Match Details
Two dominating wins for England and they look a very dangerous team to beat. Of course, both wins were considerably easy win games but it’s the U-19 World Cup afterall. They look good in all the departments. The wins have also boosted their run rate significantly. Canada will only get better from such experiences, and given the attitude shown by many of their players, they will improve with more exposure you'd think. That's a wrap for today from our side. We'll be back tomorrow. Do join us for some exciting cricket stuff. Until next time, it's a goodbye from Shubham, Ovaise and Anirudh. Goodnight!
It was always going to be a mismatch. From England, Tom Prest played a brilliant Capt. Innings of 93 runs of 93 balls and stitched some crucial partnerships with Thomas and Luxton and guided England got to a mammoth total of 320. It looked like the game was virtually done and dusted and it happened what we expected. Canada's batters did show some fight in terms of lasting almost the entire 50 overs but the chase was never on track at any point really. Chima and Mahmood in the top order, scoring 38 and 25 respectively did showed some resillience, but it was Johal's powerhitting at the end and his partnership with Gibson that really entertained. Of course, Canada were out of the game long before they came together, but they at least ensured that they didn't just throw their wickets away. England were a bit lax in the field at times but that apart, they were quite clinical. Boyden once again was the chief wicket-taker with a four-fer but it were their spinners who did the damage with tidy spells that squeezed the batters throughout. Prest was impressive with the ball also, taking 3/38 and did not give the Canada batters any room to hit and restricted them to 214/10.
