Akshdeep Nath (Gorakhpur Lions Captain): "I think we restricted them to a good total. But we batted badly. We lost wickets at intervals and that's where we lost. It's an opportunity for youngsters to do well and they knew they won't be here. So, we need to step up with the bat. We gave away 10 extra runs that happens. But we have to bat better for sure. We started well and then lost our way in the middle and never really recovered."

The 12th game of the Uttar Pradesh Premier League saw the Meerut Mavericks overpower the Gorakhpur Lions by a commanding 48 runs. The Mavericks, with their dynamic performance, left no stone unturned to ensure their dominance.
Setting a target of 164, the Mavericks had the Lions chasing their tails right from the start. The Lions' batting lineup, unfortunately, couldn't find the rhythm needed. Yashu Pradhanâs 28 off 22 balls was the highest score, followed by Hardeep Singh's 16 off 18, Abhishek Goswamiâs 18 off 17, and Shivam Sharmaâs 13 off 14. No substantial partnership formed, and that proved costly for the Lions as they fell short by a significant margin.
On the bowling front, the Mavericks were absolutely ruthless. Vijay Kumar and Yogendra Doyla made early inroads, each grabbing 2 wickets, but it was Zeeshan Ansari and Yash Garg who stole the show, each picking up 3 wickets and dismantling the Lionsâ hopes with precision.
The Mavericksâ all-around effort was nothing short of spectacular, and this win will surely boost their confidence as they continue their campaign. Congratulations to the Meerut Mavericks on a well-deserved victory!
