Well that's all we have for you folks from this test match between India A and India D. A comprehensive victory from India A who have picked 6 points from this encounter. They have kept themselves alive in the tournament to win the Duleep Trophy 2024 ahead of their final fixture against table toppers India C. Join us for the 3rd Round of the Duleep Trophy 2024 which starts from 19th September.

For now, this is Pritam Dey signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Anirudh Modi who, along with scorer/analyst Ghanendra Singh Thakur brought all the actions of the final days play of this test match. BYE BYE!
Mayank Agarwal (India A Captain): "Very happy with the win. I though the way Shams and Tanush batted, it changed the game for us. From there on, the way we bowled in the first innings set up the game for us. The bowlers were fantastic to get a side like them out in 2 sessions.

Because we batted on that wicket, we knew there was not a lot on offer but if you bowled with discipline and consistency, it was not easy for the batter too. It was very pleasing to see Tilak and Pratham get 100, we spoke in the meetings about playing good cricket and for all of us to get some scores was really nice."
Shams Mulani (Player of the Match): "Yeah it was tough in this heat but I am used to this to be honest, having been doing this for a while for my state and wanted to do the same out here.

I think discipline while batting and bowling was the key for me. I had to be consistent with my line and length with the ball and I got wickets when it required. Not really, the captain and coaches were backing me a lot so I was pretty confident."
Player of the Match : Shams Mulani
Shreyas Iyer (India D Captain): "Right from Ball 1, we were on the mark and got crucial 4 wickets but after that Shams and Kotian showcased their talent. We leaked around 120 runs and that was the point where they took over the momentum. When we came into bat, we lost few consecutive wickets and could not put up a good score, and from there onwards we were reeling.

We could see the ball turn and the batters getting beaten but as you mentioned the critical wickets at the right time was important and credit to the way they batted but 483 on a given day was not an easy task. We were calculating about how we were going to chase it but once again we lost consecutive wickets and could not hold on. Looking forward to a competitive game next time around too."
14:52 IST & Local Time: Time for the Post Match Presentations.
14:41 IST & Local Time| That’s the end of this Test Match as India A have comprehensively defeated India D by 186 runs. The Mayank Agarwal-led side have picked up 6 points from their 2nd game in the Duleep Trophy 2024 and have kept themselves alive to win the Duleep Trophy ahead of the 3rd Round.

So here is the recap of the Test match, Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bowl first on a surface that had good amount of grass cover. India A did not get off to a good start, as they had a horrid 1st Session on Day 1 after being down to 93/5. They required a partnership and it was provided by Kumar Kushagra and Shams Mulani for the 6th wicket who added 51 runs together before the former was dismissed for 28.

Tanush Kotian joined Shams Mulani at the middle as the pair added 91 valuable runs for the 7th wicket to get them back into the game. Shams Mulani (89 off 187) batted almost till the end and was the top scorer of the Innings for India A. The India D bowlers were superb in the first session of Day 1 however struggled to wrap up the tail quickly as India A posted 290 in their 1st Innings with the bat. Harshit Rana was the pick of the bowlers with figures off 4/51 for India D.

Talking about the 1st Innings of India D with the bat now. Even they got off to a similar start with the bat just like their opponents. Skipper Shreyas Iyer was dismissed without disturbing the scorers as his side were down to 96/5. Devdutt Padikkal (92) was the top scorer in the Innings as he missed out on a hundred by just 8 runs but he was falling short of partners at the other end. India D eventually were bundled out for 183 handing India A are hefty lead of 107 runs. Khaleel Ahmed (3/39) and Aaqib Khan (3/41) were the pick of the bowlers for India A.

In the 2nd Innings with the bat, India A were simply dominant on Day 3 the entire day as they added 3 100+ partnerships. Pratham Singh (122) and Tilka Varma (111*) were the centurions in the 2nd Innings for India A. Shreyas Iyer completely lost the plot as he had defensive fields set since the beginning of Day 3 and were handed over a target of 488 runs to chase in the 4th Innings.

The ball was spinning a lot as the game progressed and the spinners were right in the game for India A. Ricky Bhui (113) was promoted up the order at Number 3 and he was really promising scoring a Hundred in a really tough surface to bat.

Small contributions from Skipper Shreyas Iyer (41), Sanju Samson (40) and Yash Dubey (37) but it was not enough at all. It was a matter of time before they get bundled out which occurred at the end of the 2nd Session. India D were bowled out for 301 and lost the encounter by 186 runs. Tanush Kotian (4/73) was the pick of the bowlers for India A but it was a sensational all round performance in the entire game with both bat and ball from Shams Mulani who had three scalps to his name in the 2nd Innings with the ball.

So its India A who take away all 6 points from this fixture and are in a strong position to win the Duleep Trophy 2024 ahead of their final game in Round 3 against India C. A dominating performance in this test match against India D as Mayank Agarwal-led side have won the game by 186 runs.
