Hashmatullah Shahidi (Afghanistan Captain): "First of all congratulations to our entire nation for this big win, our entire team is really happy and hope the same back home. It was a huge win for us and to defeat South Africa in a series was really pleasing for us.

I think all of them performed really well, Gurbaz and Rahmat partnership was brilliant and then we sent Azmatullah who finished off the Innings really nicely for us.

With the ball I knew the spinners will be key here and the credit goes to Rashid, Kharote and Nabi who did the job for us. I spoke to Rahmat Shah and he looks fine, really hopeful that he will play for us in the 3rd ODI as well.
Temba Bavuma (South Africa Captain): "Yeah look I think for the openers, the job is to set the stage for the run chase. Me alongside Tony, we did not bat well and it was not a good enough performance from us.

Yeah I think, you got to take the learnings, be as positive as you can and put up a better show on the final game of the series. There is not much of a time until Sunday but we need to look at all three departments of our game.

Yeah I think, Omarzai put us a lot of pressure which is quickfire knock and Gurbaz batted brilliantly to get a big score for their side. We thought to do the same but unfortunately we couldn't. Overall they were the better side than us."
Rashid Khan (Player of the Match): "Fifer after a long time and really happy. Got a hamstring but really really happy to make some contribution for my side and win the game for them.

(Bowling with Kharote & Ghazanfar) Well I really like bowling with the youngsters even in the nets as well as during the game. They always listen to me and its always great to see them shining at the middle. That's the beauty of the game.

Well as I said earlier, we had a big opportunity to win a series against South Africa, I thought I am able to bowl and field for my team so why not I should go for it. Good job by the physio and really happy to get the win for my team."

Time for the Post Match Presentations.
Afghanistan have created history at Sharjah as they have won their first ever bilateral series against South Africa with a game to spare!
What a night for this man, who picks up a FIFER on his Birthday! πŸ€©πŸ‘‡πŸΌ
00:39 AM IST & 11:09 PM Local Time| History has been created at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium as Afghanistan have beaten South Africa yet again in the 2nd ODI and have won the 3 match ODI Series (2-0) with a game to spare. It’s the first time when these two teams have met each other in an ODI Series and its Hashmatullah Shahidi-led side who have clinched the series.

Earlier in the day, Hashmatullah Shahidi won the toss and elected to bat first on a surface their side bowled first in the 1st ODI and bundled out South Africa for a low total. It ended up being a sensational decision as both the openers got of to a flying start. An 88 run opening partnership between Gurbaz and Riaz Hassan which was broken at the end by Aiden Markram who departs Riaz Hassan for 29.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz was simply brilliant at the middle as he was the top scorer in the Innings. The wicket-keeper batter brought up his 7th ODI Hundred, first against the Proteas which consisted of 10 Fours and 3 Sixes. Rahmat Shah (50) played a really handy knock too along with Gurbaz.

A quickfire knock from Azmatullah Omarzai who walked in at 4 and batted till the end with an unbeaten 88 off just 50 balls taking his side to a massive score on the board. Afghanistan ended up with 311/4 from their 50 overs and it was a well above par total in this surface.

A wicket apiece for Lungi Ngidi, Nandre Burger, Nqaba Peter & Aiden Markram as South Africa required to chase down 312 runs from their 50 overs.

In reply, the visitors started off well in the run chase. The opening pair added 73 runs together but it was the South African skipper who threw away his wicket and opened the door for Afghanistan to get back in the game. Post the wicket of Bavuma, the collapse started for South Africa as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

Birthday boy, Rashid Khan was the pick of the bowlers for Afghanistan as he picked up a fifer and conceded just 19 runs. Nangeyalia Kharote picked up 4 wickets too for Afghanistan in the Innings. A total of 9 wickets have fallen to spin in the 2nd Innings.

From 73/0 they were bowled out for 134 and lost the encounter by 177 runs. History has been created by Afghanistan who have defeated South Africa two times in a row and have sealed the ODI Series (2-0) with a game to spare.
