6:31 PM IST, Local Time: That's the end of this game. A clinical performance from the Mysore Warriors as they beat the Mangaluru Dragons by six wickets with eight balls to spare. It was a solid all-around effort from them and they finish the league stages on a high. The Mangaluru Dragons continue to struggle as they suffer their fifth loss in a row.
Chasing 179, the Mysore Warriors got off to a steady start. Karthik S U and Codanda Ajit Karthik took their time to settle in as they could only muster 37 runs in the powerplay. Codanda struggled to get going and fell on 14 while trying to break the shackles. Skipper Karun Nair started positively at number three. Karthik at the other end also started cutting loose as they started finding boundaries regularly.
Karthik brought up a well-composed fifty off 39 balls. Nair looked unstoppable at the crease and got to his half-century in just 24 balls. The Mangaluru Dragons looked clueless with the ball in hand. Finally, they managed to break the 107-run stand as Karthik got cleaned up on 69 in the 17th over. Nair scored a 31-ball 64 before holing out in the deep in the 18th over. Sumit Kumar fell without troubling the scorers. Manoj Bhandage (10*) and Jagadeesha Suchith (9*) remained unbeaten till the end and took the Warriors across the line with eight balls to spare.
Earlier, the Mangaluru Dragons were asked to bat first. They had a decent start as they scored 56 inside the powerplay for the loss of two wickets. Tushar Singh held the innings nicely and received good support from Krishnamurthy Siddharth. Tushar departed after scoring 43 off 26 balls. The Warriors pulled back things after Tushar’s dismissal.
Siddharth looked good at the crease and brought up his fifty but fell soon. Lochan Gowda played a very good knock of 25 before holing out in the deep in the 18th over. Darshan MB played a cameo of eight-ball 18 at the back end of the innings which powered the Dragons to 178/9 at the end of their 20 overs. Codanda Ajit Karthik, Krishnappa Gowtham and Manoj Bhandage grabbed two scalps each for the Warriors.
