So, that also brings a wrap to our coverage of this game between Surrey Jaguars and Bangla Tigers Mississaunga. Do switch tabs and join us for the second game of the day. For now, this is me Hiren Kumar signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Ayan Chatterjee, HrutujaDeshmukh and scorer/analyst Ghanendra Singh Thakur. CHEERS!
Shakib Al Hasan (Player of the Match and Bangla Tigers Captain):"Yes, I was disappointed to not stay till the end. It is tricky for a new batter to come and score in these conditions.
Happy to get the 2 points. We wanted to finish the game early and not take it too deep but luckily got over the line. It just struck in my hand (on his brilliant catch). We were spot on with the ball. Our bowling has been consistent. The batting has been a bit consistent but it happens in these kind of conditions."
Player of the Match: Shakib Al Hasan.
Marcus Stoinis (Captain, Surrey Jaguars) - "It is disappointing to be on the losing side, we know what we were dealing with, good opportunity for us today but we didn't grab it. It is tough for sure, yes we have a game tomorrow and hope to end this tournament on a good note."
Logan van Beek: "The momentum yes. Tomorrow is our last match. We haven't put on a complete performance and we would like to do that tomorrow. We were 10-15 short and had we got that it would have been awesome. The performance has been mixed and frustrating. Got to keep turning away and hope to do well. Enjoyed commentary yesterday with Mike Haysman, Abhishek and the likes. It was good fun and might do that in the near future."
00:29 IST & 14:59 Local Time | ALL OVER! Bangla Tigers win by 2 wickets. Woah! What a game we have witnessed. One of those days, were the low scoring encounters go down to the wire. Pragat Singh does it for his side. His knock of 6* off 2 will be as crucial as a fifty. Bangla Tigers now move 2nd on the points table. Whereas, the road gets difficult for the Jaguars going forward. So, here is how this 18-over contest panned out.
Opting to field first, the Bangla Tigers did an excellent job by restricting the Jaguars to a total of just 108/8 in their 20 overs. They were excellent with the new ball and also in the death.
Their bowlers made full use of the conditions and picked up wickets at regular intervals. Curtis Campher was the pick of the bowlers for them and ended with the figures of 4/17 in his 3 overs.David Weise, Shoriful Islam and skipper Shakib Al Hasan also bowled well and picked up a wicket each to their name.
With the bat, the Jaguars were pretty ordinary today and failed to build partnerships in the middle. None of their batters looked comfortable today. Shreyas Movva was the top scorer for them and scored 21 off 25. In the end, Sunil Narine played a quick fire cameo of 16* runs.
Coming to the chase, the Jaguars kept it tight with the new ball and also picked up 2 early wickets inside the powerplay. Defending 108 was never going to be easy and they leaked runs in the middle overs but did well to pull back things in the death.
Ben Lister was the pick of the bowlers for them who ended his spell with the figures of 3/12 in his 4 overs. Logan Van Beek was also impressive and picked up 2 wickets to his name. They did well to take the game till the last over and gave tough fight and also looked well settled to win the game. Sunil Narine was also outstanding and ended his spell with the figures of 2/9 in his 4 overs.
With the bat, the Tigers looked good against the new ball and also in the middle overs but struggled a bit in the death but managed to get over the line in the end.
Skipper Shakib was the pick of the batters for them and scored 36 off 30. Gurbaz was also impressive in the middle and scored 19. In the end, It was Pragat Singh who hit the match winning runs for his side.
Stay around for the presentations.
17.3 M Stoinis to P Singh
4 FOUR!!Pargat Singh takes his team over the line. Back of the length delivery outside off and Singh stays low and just guides it over the short third for match-winning boundary! Very cheeky from Pargat Singh as he just waits for the ball and hits it just on time, with the pace of Stoinis the ball runs over. The Bangla Tigers Mississauga won the match by 2 wickets.
4 needed off 4 balls.
17.2 M Stoinis to P Singh
2 Good length outside off, swinging away from the batter and slashing it towards the sweeper for a couple of runs.
