That's all from the coverage of the opening encounter of MPL Season 2 between Ratnagiri Jets and Kolhapur Tuskers.
I, Aditya Agarwal , signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Saptak Sanyal and Hrutuja Deshmukh, who along with scorer/analyst Zeeshan Naiyer, brought you all actions of the event. Stay tuned for more cricketing action! Until then, Bye!!!!
Azim Kazi ( Player of the Match and Captain, Ratnagiri Jets)- "First off all, we played according to our plan. We got off to a great start thanks to our openers.
Our spinners bowled a tighter length and Satyajeet Bacchav was the standout spinner for us today. Everyone is experienced and I feel lucky to have such champion bowlers in my team.

Divyang took us the big wicket of the opposing captain Kedar Jadhav. We stick to our plans and got the desired result.

We will hope to take this momentum forward."
Time for the post-match presentation.
Shrikant Mundhe(Vice Captain, Kolhapur Tuskers)- "Once you lose 4 wickets in the powerplay, it becomes difficult to catch up. I think we played too many dot balls and we need to do better.

We didn't really start well in the powerplay with the ball but came back well in the middle phase. Our spinners bowled good. If we could score 40 runs losing 1 or 2 wickets, we would have been in the game.

Fielders were good. Yes we had some misses as it is the first game. It is a long tournament of 10 games. We have had a bad day. We need to regroup and take the momentum forward."
Player of the Match- Azim Kazi
23:20 IST and Local Time | Put into bat by Kolhapur Tuskers, Ratnagiri got off to a flier start ending the powerplay on a high with a score of 66 for the loss of 1 wicket. The spinners came into the game after the powerplay and brought the momentum back into the Kolhapur side by picking 3 wickets in the middle overs and reducing the run rate of the Ratnagiri side.
Dhiraj Phatangare and the skipper Azim Kazi chipped in with 42 and 46 runs respectively. Some late blitz from Nikhil Naik in the death overs ensured Ratnagiri reach to a respectable score of 172 for the loss of 6 wickets.Taranjit Singh Dhillon was the pick of the bowlers for Kolhapur Tuskers who conceded just 18 runs in his spell of 4 overs and got 1 wicket.
While chasing, Kolhapur Tuskers got off to a horrific start in the powerplay ending  with score of 31 runs and losing 4 crucial wickets , thanks to great opening spells by the new ball bowlers of Ratnagiri Jets. Ratnagiri's spinners were on point with their line and length as well . They slowed the game in middle overs and picked up wickets at regular intervals. Aniket Porwal and Yogesh Dongare got a start but couldn't convert it into a big score.
Satyajeet Bacchav was the pick of the bowlers , his figures reads 23 runs for 3 wickets. Some outstanding outfield catches and good ground fielding ensured Ratnagiri Jets win open their campaign with a dominating 54 run victory.
