MI New York peaked at the right moment and secured their place in the top four. Conversely, Los Angeles Knight Riders have been eliminated from the tournament. Time to wrap up this coverage, folks! For now, this is Deepak Prakash signing off on behalf of co-commentators Saptak Sanyal, Ayan Chatterjee, and scorer/analyst Yogesh Kumar. CHEERS!
Kieron Pollard(MI New York Captain): "Obviously I'm very very relieved. I want to congratulate the entire team. They have done very well.

If you look at the way we batted throughout the tournament, we batted well but the results were not in favour. We looked to have a good game and we got it today. Nosthush Kenjige was good and it was a complete team effort.

You need some sort of confidence in life. When I got the wicket, I was very happy. I am relieved that the guys have got the result of their hard work."
Sunil Narine (Los Angeles Knight Riders Captain): "(Defining moment) I think the score. I think it's tough to defend 130 against this batting lineup.  You have to really get early wickets, maybe three or four in the powerplay. That's the only way you can squeeze them. But in saying that, I think Pooran batted brilliantly. And Pollard came and finished the innings.

I think we gave it our all, the most we could. Actually, guys, we weren't down and out at all.
I think we fought till the very end, and that's the most we could ask for as a team.

In this format, batting first is often a challenge. We were very close to qualifying, but it wasn't meant to be. We tried everything we could today, but it didn't work out, and that's just how cricket goes sometimes. To our fans: please keep supporting us.

We'll continue to fight. The team was brilliant, but it just didn't happen this year. I want to give credit to all the players for doing their best and putting us in good situations."
Rashid Khan(Most Valuable Player of the Match): "I think it was much needed for my team, I am pleased with the win. I tried to put the pressure on the opposition and I took the crucial wickets. It was all about bowling right line and lengths. If you bowl in right areas, you will get the results. I executed wrong'un, leg spin well.

I had the ball in my mind when I came to bowl(about Nitish Kumar's dismissal). Everything was perfect. It pitched in line and turned well. We are doing well in batting, bowling and fielding."
Most Valuable Player of the Match: Rashid Khan
Play of the Day: Kieron Pollard(for the dismissal of Andre Russell)
Power Hitter of the Match: Jason Roy
Time for the post-match presentation.
Nicholas Pooran(MI New York): "We have been in a similar situation in the last game and we knew how to do it. Winning the toss was crucial and our bowlers did a great job.

I tried to be responsible throughout my stay. LAKR bowlers were top-notch and I took on Sunil at one point. I tried to rotate strike against him and tried to keep him out of the play. Pollard is a great finisher and he stepped up at the right moment. In big games, big players come in the party. He stayed unbeaten and had taken the all important wicket of Russell in the first innings."
9:30 AM IST, 23:00 Local Time: The defending champions are through to the playoffs. MI New York drubbed Los Angeles Knight Riders by 4 wickets with 18 balls to spare in a virtual knockout, securing their place in the top four. On the other hand, Knight Riders are eliminated from the tournament.

Earlier, after being invited to bat first, Los Angeles Knight Riders were skittled for 130 runs in 19.1 overs. Jason Roy provided a decent start, but the team lost a flurry of wickets in quick succession post-powerplay and were seven wickets down for just 81 runs inside 15 overs. However, Andre Russell played a valuable knock, scoring 35 runs off 21 balls and propelling the score to 130.

Rashid Khan shone with the bat for MI New York, claiming three wickets for just 22 runs in his 4-over quota. Trent Boult and Nosthush Kenjige chipped in with a couple of wickets, while Romario Shepherd and Kieron Pollard contributed a solitary wicket to Knight Riders’ downfall.

MI New York needed to chase 130 runs in 18.2 overs to qualify for the playoffs, and Dewald Brevis provided a decent start. Ruben Clinton departed cheaply in the 5th over of the innings, and Brevis followed suit, scoring 27 runs off 19 balls.

New York side lost a few wickets in quick succession and were 5 down for 91 runs in the 14th over of the innings. However, Pooran held his fort from one end and attacked the loose balls to keep the run rate in check.  Kieron Pollard stepped up on the big occasion and went berserk from the outset. Pooran departed for 35 runs in pursuit of a glory shot but Pollard remained unbeaten on 33 runs off just 12 balls and sealed the game for and top-four spot for his side.

Sunil Narine bagged a couple of wickets for Knight Riders, while Spencer Johnson, Corne Dry, Andre Russell, and Ali Khan celebrated a solitary wicket.

Stay tuned for the presentation...

4 FOUR!!! MI New York have qualified in the play-offs and they will play against Texas Super Kings in the eliminator. Shorter in length at the middle stump. Rashid looks to play a pull through the on side but gets an inside edge through the left of the keeper for a boundary. With that, Los Angeles Knight Riders are eliminated from this year's MLC.
Three dot balls on the trot. Pollard goes to Rashid for a quick chat.
16.5 C Dry to R Khan
0 Slower and loopy overpitched delivery outside off. Rashid moved leg side for room and finds it out of his reach.
16.4 C Dry to R Khan
0 Yorker angling around the leg stump. Rashid again tries to jam his bat down but he misses this time.
16.3 C Dry to R Khan
