Milestone
Washington Freedom's dominance continues in this MLC and they are the first team to qualify for the playoffs. Time to wrap up this coverage, folks! For now, this is Deepak Prakash signing off on behalf of co-commentator, Ayan Chatterjee and scorer/analyst Ghanendra Singh Thakur. CHEERS!
Steve Smith (Washington Freedom Captain): "I thought Travis started really well, considering the tough conditions with the new ball being a bit stoppy. They seemed defensive against him early on, and he capitalized on that. Gous played well in the middle, and Rachin had a good cameo towards the end. With the ball, Marco set the tone early, and Jasdeep was outstanding in his first game.

I thought that was a pretty good total on this wicket, considering the dimensions of this ground. If we could control the powerplay, not let them get too far ahead, ideally take some wickets, and defend that longer side effectively, we'd have a good chance. I thought the bowlers did a really good job today, taking plenty of wickets early on and putting pressure on them.

Marco bowls at his best when he's charging in. He had an amazing zip and set the tone today. Jas was nervous but performed well. We've achieved our first objective, but winning is a habit, so we need to continue building towards the end to play our best cricket. So it's about to be really enjoyable. The Guys have played really well and hopefully, we can keep it up well."
Kieron Pollard (MI New York Captain): "I think we were decent with the ball. Head got some runs and got off to a flier. We did well in the powerplay and then slipped and then pulled back and then too many runs in the end. Happy with the bowling department.

Batting was atrocious to say the least in the powerplay and I take responsibility for it and have to accept this. It was a failure on our part.

From now on, we have to improve as we are in must-win territory. Any other failure we have to accept it and move on. Thank you and see you in a couple of nights."
Jasdeep Singh (Most Valuable Player Of the Match): "Honestly speaking, you know, two weeks ago when the Major League started, I was a bit disappointed not to be here. I had completely turned off my mind, thinking, "Okay, so be it. If it's not this year, maybe next year." But yeah, all I want to say is that this is all God's plan. I see it as God's gift to me, and it's better to say this is my gift back to God.

I'm completely grateful to be here. I just tried to keep it simple. I had a chat with our coaching unit. The idea was to hit the right lengths and mix in some bouncers, considering one side of the field was bigger.

I had a bit of nerves coming in as Saurabh's replacement; he has been terrific, and there was pressure to live up to expectations. These guys, especially Lockie and Smudge (Steve Smith), have been very welcoming. I've never felt like I'm walking into a game alone, and those things make a big difference."
Most Valuable Player: Jasdeep Singh.
Play of the Day: Rachin Ravindra.
Power Hitter of the Day: Andries Gous (322 feet).
Time for the presentations.
Rachin Ravindra (Washington Freedom): "Thanks. Yes, Just wanted to build a partnership with Gous and wanted to stay there and some days it works out and some days it does not. Yes, different role today. We adjust to the team's needs and happy to contribute to the team. It was challenging out there. Bowlers were great and backed up the batters well as it was not easy for the batters. So, happy with that. Yes, just got to know that we have qualified and looking forward to playing more in Dallas."
9:09 AM IST, 10:39 PM Local Time: That's it! MI New York are bundled out for a paltry 88 runs and the defending champions are in all sorts of trouble in this MLC. Washington Freedom win by a massive margin of 94 runs, extending their winning streak to four matches. With this win, Washington Freedom became the first team to qualify for the playoffs.

Earlier, after being invited to bat first, Washington Freedom managed to post 182/5 in 20 overs. Steven Smith (8 off 10) failed to make an impact with the bat, falling prey to Rashid Khan inside the powerplay. Travis Head (54 off 33) and Andries Gous (59 off 48) forged 70+ runs for the second wicket and laid a solid foundation, while Rachin Ravindra’s rapid 14-ball 31 runs has helped Freedom cross the 180-run mark.

Kieron Pollard and Rashid Khan shared a couple of wickets each for MI New York, while Romario Shepherd contributed a solitary wicket.

In pursuit of 82 runs, MI New York got off to a horrible start as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals and failed to stitch any significant partnership.
Marco Jansen and Jasdeep Singh wreaked havoc with the new ball and removed four New York batters inside four overs.

The defending champions fell like a house of cards and were skittled for a paltry 88 runs in 13.3 overs. It was the sorry-looking scorecard for Men in Blue and Gold as Romario Shepherd (25 off 14) and Trent Boult (16 off 13) were the only two batters to score in double digits.

Jasdeep Singh shone with the ball for Freedom, claiming three wickets. Marco Jansen, Lockie Ferguson, and Glenn Maxwell shared a couple of wickets each, while Ian Holland contributed one wicket to New York's downfall.

Stay tuned for the presentation...
13.3 G Maxwell to E Adil
W BOWLED HIM! That's it. The final nail in the coffin. Maxwell gets two in the over as MI New York gets bowled out for the second lowest total in MLC history. A convincing win for Washington Freedom. Coming to the ball, fuller length angling in straight, Adil looks to swing leg side and misses. The ball goes through to clatter the stumps. Adil departs and a win for Washington Freedom by 94 runs to become the first team to qualify for the playoffs.
13.2 G Maxwell to E Adil
0 Fuller length around off, Adil defends it to short midwicket.
Ehsan Adil is the last man in for MI New York.
