Winning the toss Derbyshire started out well with the ball but Ben Cox (61* off 30) and Lewis Goldsworthy (48 off 41) helped the Foxes put up a respectable total on the board with 184/6.
Chasing the big total, Derbyshire lost 3 wickets in the powerplay to the pacers Ben Mike, Josh Hull and Tom Scriven. Wayne Madsen (46 off 35) rescued the side and carried the momentum forward.
Madsen and Samit added 80 runs for the 4th wicket through the middle overs with Hull getting rid of Madsen in the 14th over. With the target still 53 runs away when Madsen was dismissed, Samit took the onus on himself smashing 9 fours and 2 maximums on his way to an unbeaten 67 in 44 deliveries.
Hull (2/25) and Mike (2/45) both picked up a couple of wickets with Sam Wood (1/25) and Scriven on his comeback (1/38) claiming a wicket apiece.
