So that marks the end of our coverage from the exciting game between Glamorgan and Sussex. For now, this is Saptak Sanyal signing off on the behalf of my co-commentator Akshay Bhide and our scorer/analyst Bishal Mandal. Switch the tabs to follow our coverage of the inaugural match of MLC 2024. Good night!
03:05 IST and 23:35 Local Time | After losing four consecutive matches, Glamorgan have finally managed to come out with flying colours in the T20 Blast 2024 by defeating Sussex by 24 runs in the DLS method.

Coming to bat first in this game, Glamorgan started to take on the Sussex bowlers right from the start. Kiran Carlson and William Smale took 79 runs in their opening partnership in 33 legal deliveries. Smale got out for 43 runs facing 19 balls with 8 fours and a maximum. Thomas Rhys Bevan then joined his skipper Carlson in the crease and the duo put up 72 runs for the second wicket. Bevan played 17 balls to score 34 runs hitting 4 maximums. Then it was Colin Ingram who kept the run rate escalating. He chipped in with a quickfire 40 playing just 19 balls with 7 fours and a maximum. But the star of the show was captain Kiran Carlson. Carlson batted for 47 balls and hit 9 fours and 3 maximums on his way to score 87. After Carlson's dismissal, nobody stood firm and Glamorgan finished with 236 where 250 was looking very feasible for them.

For Sussex, the star of the bowling show was skipper Tymal Mills. The vastly experienced guy took 4 wickets for 29 runs while the other bowlers of his team had a bad day in the office. Nathan McAndrew and James Coles took one wicket.

Coming to chase the run, Sussex got off to a slow start and lost Harrison David Ward cheaply for 8. However Tom  Clark and Daniel Hughes kept on chasing the run. Clark got dismissed for 30 off 20 balls in the very first ball of Mason Crane's spell and just two balls later, James Coles was also sent back by Crane for just 4 runs. But Hughes didn't stop. He continued to get boundaries on loose balls sans any support from his teammates. John Simpson batted for 17 balls but before his dismissal, he could only muster 19 runs hitting 2 fours. He played too many dot balls which is a sin in the T20 format. When Sussex were 136 for 4 after 13.2 overs, it started raining heavily. The game was stopped for almost 50 minutes and then the revised target was 215 for Sussex in 18 overs. After the rain break, Daniel Hughes started with two maximum but got out in the next ball scoring 74. After his dismissal, chasing the target was tough for the rest of the batters and they fell short. Tom Alsop got out for 15 and the finisher Nathan McAndrew tried a bit but ended up being a failure. He posted 14 runs beside his name in just 6 balls hitting two maximums.

For Glamorgan, it was a complete teamwork in the bowling. Jamie Mcllroy, Daniel Douthwaite, Mason Crane and Chris Sole- everybody took two wickets. Benjamin Kellaway didn't take any wicket but he gave only 31 runs away bowling the tough overs in the powerplay.
