Milestone
Time to conclude our coverage from the 17th game of the CPL 2024 between St Lucia Kings and Antigua & Barbuda Falcons. For now, this is Saptak Sanyal signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Ajay Pal Singh and our scorer/analyst Ashok Dayma. Have a good day!
Faf du Plessis(St Lucia Kings Captain): "I am really proud of the way we fought. A lot of spin on this wicket. I think we were a few runs short. We didn't put enough runs. There are a few areas where we can improve with the bat.The bowlers have dominated. Wiese did a great job.

All the spinners dominated the match. They have bowed most of the overs and took 6-7 wickets. That's a great thing. It is great to come here and play. Glad to finish the Saint Lucia leg on a high."
Chris Green (Antigua & Barbuda Falcons Captain): "Yeah, even with the hitting of Wiese in the end. We felt they were just par. Looked like a really good wicket. We know it gets better in the second innings. We gave away a lot of soft wickets in the first half. We have two games left and would look to finish on a high.

Too many dropped chances and too many soft dismissals cost us. Need to fight and stay in the tournament.

We still haven't played our best cricket yet. Too many times we have given the opposition the upper hand despite being in a strong situation.

Everyone here has come in to perform. We have to go out there and fight. Show as individuals what we are made of. I repeat myself again,  we have two games left, we have to win both. Element of pride on the line."
Khary Pierre (Player of the Match): "I am really happy. Glad that I can help the team to get over the line. You have to be a professional so that whenever the opportunity comes, you are ready. The crowd has been amazing, we owe this to them.

Variations and adaptations were vital. I saw the ball spinning, so I told myself just bowl it in the right areas. Tried to spin the ball. I think the unit has managed to stick together and played for each other. It is just about backing our abilities and believing in ourselves."

St Lucia Kings' players are roaming around the ground and are thanking the crowd of Saint Lucia for their unwavering support.
09:14 IST and 23:44 Local Time | St Lucia Kings have registered a dominating victory over the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons. They lost the toss initially but put up a great show with the ball to defend the 153-run target. At the end, they got the victory by 26 runs.

After being asked to bat first, St Lucia Kings started to go firmly as Johnson Charles got a few boundaries on his way to score 25 off 20 balls. But when the team score was 40, Springer got the better of Johnson Charles. In the next over, skipper Faf du Plessis and Roston Chase became the victims of ABF skipper Chris Green. But Ackeem Auguste batted well to take his team to a safe score.

There was a rain break for over an hour after the 10th over and when the game resumed, the conditions were in favour of the spinners. Ackeem Auguste's resistance came to an end when he was on 35. At one point, SLK were reeling behind losing 6 wickets for 103 runs and eventually got reduced to 132 for 8 with the final over remaining. Pitman came to bowl the final over and David Wiese went berserk at him. He hit 3 maximums and took 20 from that over to take the score past 150. SLK finished with 152 runs on the board losing 8 wickets. David Wiese stayed unbeaten on 43 off 26 balls with four maximums and a solitary boundary.

For the ABF side, skipper Chris Green was the star of the bowlers picking 4 wickets for 22 runs. 3 wickets were taken by Shamar Springer. All of their bowlers were more or less economical sans Mohammad Amir and Kelvin Pitman.

Coming to chase the run, ABF were off to a good start as Kofi James hit a boundary and a maximum in the first over. But he got out in the next over off Khary Pierre. After that it was a procession of batters going back to the hut. Sam Billings, Jahmar Hamilton and Justin Greaves got out cheaply. Greaves reached two figure mark to score 10. Imad Wasim, the Pakistani all rounder faced 10 deliveries but he failed to open his account.

Once the ABF were reduced to 28 for 5, skipper Chris Green and Shamar Springer took the charge to take the game forward. They kept their team in the run chase taking singles and avoiding to go for big hits. They added 60 runs in their partnership for the 6th wicket in 58 balls. Springer got out for 24 as he suffered a miscommunication with his partner. Chris Green however continued his innings but he got out for 48 in the very last ball of Noor Ahmad's spell. He hit 4 fours and a maximum in his 37-ball stay. His dismissal ensured that St Lucia Kings were on the cusp of the victory. Roshon Primus scored a few runs to shorten the margin if defeat for his side. Primus hit two maximums and a boundary to score an unbeaten 17 from 10 balls.

For the St Lucia Kings side, Khary Pierre was the best bowler. He took 3 wickets to dismantle the top order of ABF and eventually finished with 3 for 24. Noor Ahmad was also economical as he took 2 wickets for 13 runs. Alzarri Joseph took another wicket.

19.6 D Wiese to R Primus
0 Another swing and a miss to seal the deal. David Wiese with a magical last over, just 6 runs off it. Length ball, slower one again, outside off. Primus looks to heave it away over deep mid wicket but misses it to the keeper. Wiese celebrates and so does the whole of St Lucia crowd.
19.5 D Wiese to R Primus
0 Back of a length outside off. Change in pace again. 116.7 kmph. Primus swings and misses again to the keeper.
19.4 D Wiese to R Primus
6 SIXXXX!!! This is why he wanted the strike. Full and outside off. Primus clears his front leg and tonks it over cover for a huge 103m maximum. But this is too little too late for the Falcons.
19.3 D Wiese to R Primus
0 Full and straight at the stumps. Primus drills it hard down the ground to long on and denies the single.
19.2 D Wiese to R Primus
0 Slower ball again, length outside off. 111.3 kmph. Primus swings and misses it again to the keeper.
Just five legal deliveries needed to seal the victory for St Lucia Kings.
19.1 D Wiese to R Primus
0 Over the wicket. Length ball, slower one, into the pitch. 114.3 kmph. Primus swings and misses it to the keeper.
33 runs required from the final over. Six sixes anyone? David Wiese to bowl.
