That is the end of the high-scoring fixture at Warner Park, with the Faf du Plessis-led Kings getting off to a winning start. It's not an ideal start for Andre Fletcher and Co. as they have lost two consecutive matches at home.

I am AkshayaKrishna Polya, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Ajay Pal Singh and scorers/analysts Ashok Dayma and Ghanendra Singh Thakur, who brought you all the live-action of this mouth-watering game of cricket. We will meet again. Until then, its cheers!
Faf du Plessis (St Lucia Kings Captain): "The break did help us. I think, there was a lot of momentum on their side. But in the context of the match, those 7 balls. The batting team in that situation wanted at least 20 runs from those 7 balls. We gave away only 3 runs and that changed the momentum towards us.

But then the start we got, losing four wickets quickly, and then chasing down this big total will give us a lot of boost, especially to our middle order.

Yeah, always you come to the Caribbean. You feel the challenge is always going to be in the middle over. The way those two guys played in the middle and take Shamsi down. It makes it difficult to bowl to us when you know there are guys down the order who can do that."
Andre Fletcher (St Kitts and Nevis Patriots Captain): "As I keep saying, it is about execution. As a fielding unit, we haven't supported our bowlers. You can't drop those many catches on the field against a team that has such a strong batting line-up. You need to back your bowlers. Catches win matches and we have to do that, and buck up on our fielding

To be honest, Kyle Mayers bowled the first 3. The plan was to use Shamsi in the middle overs; he is a genuine wicket-taker. Also, Nedd, who bowled an over early, was a good option, but He did not get his length right and panicked a bit against Rajapaksa. But Rajapaksa and Seifert took the game away from us. But it was those dropped catches where we lost the game."
It has started to rain at Warner Park just as the captains were about to come to share their thoughts on the game.
Kyle Mayers (Player of the Match): "Today was a good day for me but the team didn't get over the line so sad about that. The difference between us and them was they executed well in the back end. The rain also kept our spinners out of the game.

New beginnings, new team. I love here at St Kitts (on playing for a new franchise). It is just positive. Trying to analyse which bowlers to target and taking it deep. We knew if bat till the end, we can get a big total (batting with Evin Lewis).

I mean it was a good catch (to dismiss Faf du Plessis), I just gave my best effort and glad that it came off."

8:59 AM IST and 23:30 Local Time: St Lucia Kings win the battle of Saints in a high-scoring fixture at Warner Park by 5 wickets! They overcome the heroics of Kyle Mayers and Evin Lewis to hand the hosts back-to-back hammerings!

Earlier in the evening, Faf du Plessis won the toss and decided to put the hosts to bat first. St Kitts and Nevis Patriots didn’t start well, losing the skipper Andre Fletcher in the first over as he ran himself out. Evin Lewis and Kyle Mayers bombarded the visitors for fun, scoring fours and sixes at will. The left-handed duo added a record 199-run partnership for the second wicket and were flying high in their respective 90s before the rain delayed the proceedings for one hour.

After the break, the Patriots could score only three runs off the seven balls and ended up on 201/3 in 20 overs. Evin Lewis (100 off 54) hammered his second CPL hundred and remained unbeaten, while David Wiese (2/29) dismissed Mayers (92 off 62) and Sherfane Rutherford in successive deliveries to restrict the hosts at the back end of the innings.

Mayers (2/38) then bowled a brilliant new ball spell and castled Johnson Charles, and removed Ackeem Auguste in the same over before taking a stunner to dismiss Faf du Plessis. Anrich Nortje (2/29), who dismissed his ex-Proteas compatriot, knocked over Roston Chase with a peach of a delivery in the same over inside the powerplay to reduce the Kings to 4/24.

Tim Seifert (64 off 27) and Bhanuka Rajapaksa (68* off 35) rebuilt and took the attack to the bowlers with a quickfire 103-run partnership for the 5th wicket. Seifert made full use of the dropped chances and made the home side pay for their errors.

Odean Smith (1/21) broke this stand before David Wiese (34* off 20) and Rajapaksa continued the punishment to the Patriots with another quick and unbeaten 75-run partnership for the 6th wicket, hunting the score inside 18 overs to get off the mark in the very first match of the season!

Stay tuned for the presentation!

4 FOUR!!!!! That is it. Wiese finishes the game with a boundary. There was some confusion in the middle but the umpire now shakes the hand of the batters. Full and angling down the leg. Wiese flicks it towards backward square leg and the ball races away to the fence. St Lucia Kings start their campaign with a hard-fought win.
17.2 O Smith to D Wiese
WD WIDE!!! Length ball down the leg. Wiese misses the flick to the keeper. Wide called.
A run out appeal at the bowler's end. By the time Smith removed the bails, Rajapaksa was safely home. NOT OUT!
17.1 O Smith to B Rajapaksa
1 Length ball outside off. Rajapaksa guides it to short third and scampers through for a single. The throw comes at the bowler's end and Odean Smith takes the bails off. Rajapaksa is safe.
