11:22 IST and 10:52 PM Local Time | Thats it. West Indies Women have snatched it away from the
hands of Pakistan Women and lead the T20 Series 3:0 with 2 games to play.
Pakistan
having won the toss and elected to bowl first, the decision surprised everyone
including the West Indian Captain Hayley Matthews. West Indies did not start
well with the bat as they faced an early setback as Williams was dismissed for
just 1 run of 9 balls in the 4th Over. The duo of Hayley Matthews
and Shemaine Campbelle batted together and added a 89 runs partnership for the
2nd wicket before Matthews who was batting beautifully lost her
wicket for 68 off 49 balls. The scoreboard stopped ticking post the wicket of
Hayley Matthews as Pakistan bowled well and squeezed the runs in the final few
overs.
West Indies managed to get only 132 on the board off their 20 overs
which looked slightly below par. Captain Hayley Matthews was the highest run
scorer for West Indies once again as she got 68 off 49 balls and for Pakistan Fatima
Sana was the pick of the bowlers as she picked up two wickets after conceding
just 22 runs with the ball. Pakistan Women needed to get 133 runs in order to
chase it down and get their 1st victory of the series.
In Reply, Pakistan got off to a flyer with the bat. Sidra Ameen was the real
aggressor in the Powerplay along with Ayesha Zafar who added a 64 runs opening
partnership before Ayesha was dismissed for 19 off 22 balls. Cameos from
Muneeba Ali (12 off 13 balls) and Pakistan Captain Nida Dar (17 off 11 balls)
but the scoreboard kept ticking all thanks to the Innings of Sidra Ameen who at
the end got dismissed for 63 off 58 balls. West Indies Captain Hayley Matthews
to matter into her own hands as she got the two big wickets in the 18th
over and conceded just two runs.
Pakistan were well in control of this game,
from 115/3 they had a horrendous collapse of 125/8 and lost the game out of
nowhere by 2 runs. Pakistan having needed just 16runs off the last 3 overs with 7 balls to go, have chocked and lost the match. Kudos to the West Indian Women side who did not give up till the end and made a phenomenal comeback in the last 3 overs to get themselves over the line.
