and 22:56 Local time – A Clean Sweep from West Indies Women in the ODI Series against
Pakistan Women. West Indies Women have won the 3rd WODI against Pakistan Women by 88 runs. Pakistan
just did not look as a unit in the entire ODI Series. A lot of things to be needs
to be improved especially their middle order batting and fielding while West
Indies ticked all boxes in this series.
Talking about
the final ODI game, West Indies won the toss and elected to bat without any
hesitation. They got off to a fantastic start in the Powerplay scoring 64 runs
and losing the wicket of Rashada Williams who got dismissed for just 9 runs.
Despite that, the added a 93 runs partnership for the 2nd wicket between
Hayley Matthews and Rashada Williams who
steadied the ship for West Indies to get themselves to a big total on the
board. Captain Hayley Matthews once again was solid as ever and she went on to
score her 6th WODI century and her second of the series. The spinners of
Pakistan tidied things up in the middle overs and slowed down the Innings of
West Indies. Stafanie Taylor’s 47 off 62 balls and Aaliyah Alleyne’s cameo of
20 off 12 balls helped West Indies reach a massive total of 278/6 in their 50
overs. Pakistan Women had to chase down a mammoth total of 279 and they
definitely needed a good start with the bat.
In Reply, Pakistan started off their Innings pretty slowly as they
managed to score only 28 runs off the Powerplay and also lost the wickets of
Sadaf Shamas and Sidra Ameen inside the powerplay as well. Pakistan kept losing
wickets in regular intervals and never looked going in the run chase. The Required
Run Rate kept climbing up and there was no intent shown from the Pakistan
batters. Muneeba Ali was the top run scorer for Pakistan scoring 38 off 58
balls and Aliya Riaz was the second highest scoring 36 off 41 balls.
The Spinners of West Indies squeezed the runs and kept picking wickets at regular
intervals. Captain Hayley Matthews (2/26), Stafanie Taylor (2/29) and Aaliyah
Alleyne (2/10) were the pick off the bowlers for West Indies. Pakistan were bowled out for 190 runs and at the end was a comprehensive win for the visitors.
