That is the end of a memorable victory for Zimbabwe against the World T20 Champions, India, in a low-scoring affair! The hosts lead the five-match series 1-0 with the second game set to played tomorrow (July 7) at the same venue.

For now, it is me AkshayaKrishna Polya, signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Akshay Bhide and Pritam Dey, who, alongside our scorer/analyst Paras Yadav, brought you all the live action of this banger. We will meet again. Until then, its cheers!
Most successive T20I wins:

13 for Malaysia in 2022 and 13 for Bermuda in 2021-23

12 for Afghanistan in 2018-19, 12 for Romania in 2020-21, 12 for India in 2021-22 and in 2023-24
-India became the first full-member nation to face a T20I defeat after removing 9 opposition batters for less than 100.

-4/13 from Ravi Bishnoi is the joint-best bowling figures by an Indian bowler in a T20I loss alongside Bhuvneshwar Kumar's 4/13 against South Africa in Cuttack in 2022.
Sikandar Raza (Zimbabwe Captain and Player of the Match): "Yeah, certainly feel happy with the win today. But we are going to take one game at a time. The series is not over. The World Champions will play like World Champions. We will enjoy the victory today but have to take it one game at a time.

It's slightly sticky and slower since it's a winter and the spinners bowled brilliantly from both ends. That helped us put that pressure on their batters.

I said I don't care about the result as far as we go out there and put us a fight. The good thing is that we backed ourselves and our plans. We made some errors but it's nice to make those so that we know that there is still some room for improvement.

We said in the dressing room that the fans are going to bring in the energy and we have to lift ourselves. It was great to see their support today."
Player of the Match: Sikandar Raza

Shubman Gill (India Captain): "Yeah definitely we bowled really well but we didnot field upto our standards in the outfield. Yeah it was just not to take much pressure on our shoulders and bat freely but it did not work well according to our plans.

Yeah you could say that (his wicket was the turning point) but we were already 5 down at the halfway stage so yeah we were already in the backfoot. Really happy with the way Washi batted but as a collective group we did not play well."

Its time for the Post Match Presentations.

Clive Madande: "Obviously, I just wanted to play till the end. We wanted to get as many and I wanted to stay till the end. I’m happy with my contribution.

We just made sure that we ran hard and play with straight bat. I just told Chatara to stay focused while playing those two balls.

On this type of pitch which is slow and turning, you had to spend some time and happy to get to that total in the end."

8 PM IST and 4:30 PM Local Time: Absolute cinema at Harare Sports Club! Zimbabwe beat the reigning World T20 Champions by 13 runs in a low-scoring affair and hand the visitors their first defeat in the format in 2024! A heartbreaking start to Shubman Gill's captaincy! But it's party time in Zimbabwe as they script a historic and memorable win against the Men in Blue!

Earlier in the match, India won the toss and opted to bowl first, doing a fine job in restricting Zimbabwe to 115/9 in 20 overs. The home side struggled with wickets falling at regular intervals, with 4 batters failing to trouble the scorers. Opener Wessly Madhevere scored 21 but faced 22 deliveries in the effort. Brian Bennet (22 off 15), Sikandar Raza (17 off 19) and Dion Myers (23 off 22) got set but failed to convert it to a big score.

Clive Madande stood tall at one end and managed to hit an unbeaten 25-ball 29 to help the side get a total to defend with and avoid the all-out.

Ravi Bishnoi was the star of the show with his career-best T20I figures of 4-2-13-4. Washington Sundar was excellent, too, picking 2 scalps for just 11 runs in his 4 overs. Mukesh Kumar and Avesh Khan grabbed one wicket each, with the latter conceding 3 boundaries to Madande in the final over of the innings.

Everyone thought that it was going to be an easy chase for the Men in Blue, but a disastrous batting performance from the visitors cost them the game. They lost as many as four wickets in the powerplay and lost their way completely. Abhishek Sharma departed for a four-ball duck in the bowling of Bennet in the first over and the collapse began.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, Riyan Parag, Rinku Singh and Dhruv Jurel headed back to the pavilion after having their struggles in the middle. Shubman Gill was looking good but could only score 31 off 29 balls, being the top scorer of the game!

India were reeling at 61/7 at one stage but Avesh Khan's (16 off 12) little cameo kept India's hope alive with Sundar holding the other end. Once Avesh holed out in the deep, the pressure completely shifted to Sundar (27 off 34), who tried his bit but failed to take India home with the strokeplay getting difficult with each passing ball. The Tamil Nadu batter was the last man to get out, with the visitors getting all out for 102 in 19.5 overs! India required 30 runs in 18 balls but everything was riding on Sundar and in the end, it was Zimbabwe who held their nerves to take an early 1-0 lead in this 5-match series!

For Zimbabwe, Sikandar Raza (4-0-25-3) and Tendai Chatara (3.5-1-16-3) picked up three wickets, while Bennet (1-1-0-1), Wellington Masakadza (3-0-15-1), Luke Jongwe (4-0-28-1) and Blessing Muzarabani (4-0-17-1) picked up one scalp each.

Stay tuned for the post-match presentations!
19.5 T Chatara to W Sundar
W In the air and taken by Muzarabani. Zimbabwe beat the T20 World Champions by 13 runs. Incredible scenes here in Harare. The Zimbabwean fans go berserk in the stands. Chatara bends his back and bangs it short on off, Sundar sits back and goes for the pull but is hurried by the pace. He gets a top edge behind square in the leg side. Muzarabani from short fine leg moves to his right and takes a good catch. The celebrations begin in the Zimbabwean camp as they defend 116 successfully against India.
19.4 T Chatara to W Sundar
0 Length ball outside the off stump. Sundar clears his front leg, but in the end, he has to reach for it, lofting it off the toe end to long off. The batters don't take the single! And that should be the game for Zimbabwe! They celebrate but Raza asks them to calm down with 2 legal balls still remaining in the contest!
WOWW!!! Brilliant piece of fielding from Campbell out on the boundary and Sundar hasn't moved. Can you believe it? 14 required from 3 now.
