Deepti Sharma (Hero of the Match): "I think all the credit goes to the bowlers. We had a meeting, and we executed our plans really well. Personally, Iām used to these kinds of conditions. The wicket is slightly on the slower side and sometimes skiddy, but we managed really well in both the first and second innings. I enjoy challenges. Whenever I'm faced with challenging situations, whether it's bowling or batting, I really like to take them on."
Hero of the Match: Deepti Sharma
21:49 IST and 17:19 Local Time- Heather Knight finishes the game of in style and it has been a superb effort from her and Deepti Sharma. The London Spirit Women have cruised to a 7 wicket win and with that the Northern Superchargers Women have been knocked out of the competition. They failed to pick up any wickets post the powerplay as the two experienced batters, Sharma and Knight, put together 77 runs for the fourth wicket.
Meg Lanning came out all guns blazing and took the bowlers to the cleaners in the first couple of sets. She ended up playing one shot too many though and it triggered a collapse. Linsey Smith picked up three wickets in the powerplay to bring the Northern Superchargers back into the contest. The London Spirit were 28/3 in the first five sets.
Heather Knight and Deepti Sharma had a real job on their hands and they began the rebuilding. The runs were hard to come by and at the end of the halfway stage they were 47/3. The pressure was kept on by the bowlers as the likes of Ballinger, Wareham and Sutherland kept it tight. The Northern Superchargers were making a match of the 100 run target.
The pair began to collect the boundaries as Deepti Sharma played the role of the aggressor. Heather Knight was playing a supporting role at that stage but she also picked up pace towards the later stage. At the of the 15th set, the London Spirit needed just 20 more from 25 balls. The problem for the Superchargers was that their seamer leaked too many runs both early and at the death and they failed to penetrate with the wickets. In the end it was an easy run chase for the London side.
