That's it from all of us for this game. Keep joining us for more cricketing action all around the globe. For now, this is Akshay Bhide, signing off, on behalf of my co-commentator Anirudh Modi and scorer Bishal Mandal. Tata. Bye Bye.
Mitchell Marsh (Australia Captain): "I'm all good mate, haha. The hand is all good. We knew we had qualified and we spoke pre-game about sticking to our game and try to win. Scotland have improved a lot over the last few years and we have huge respect for them.

We spoke as a group about staying really consistent about how we want to play and tonight with us being already qualified, there was less pressure. But even in other situations we have survived and this experience has come through.

We have made it through Super 8s and it's going to be a lot of work. T20 is a scary format and anything can happen as we saw today. Chat about England is more external than internal but the focus was always to win today and we did."
Richard Berrington (Scotland Captain): "Yeah, I thought we were in a very good position. We got a very good platform but we failed to capitalize in the end and fell short by some runs.

It was a good side. We knew it was a good wicket and we failed to execute for long enough. They have great ball strikers and the last few overs brought them back into the game.

There is obviously some breeze here. It is there in the Caribbean. We just tried to ask them to hit away from the breeze. But we didn't quite nail those in the last few overs and it cost us the game.

I think as I said, we were in a very good position with the bat. We could have scored more. But the guys can hold their heads high with the way they have played in this tournament. We played against very good teams. But a big learning for us. Stoinis and Travis Head played very good shots and took the game away from us. They played shots in the areas where there were no fielders. We came here to go to the next stage but couldn't do it. Obviously disappointed with it."

Highest targets successfully chased by Australia in T20 World Cups:

192 vs Pakistan in Gros Islet, 2010

173 vs New Zealand in Dubai, 2021
Marcus Stoinis (Player of the Match): "The plan was usual to get yourself in and play some good shots and then assess the situation from there. There's a strong breeze and that end was easier to hit to. The wicket was really good by the way they batted and that's why it felt that once you get in, any target is chase-able.

We were just looking to put the bad balls away and build a partnership, and he changed the game with those 3 sixes in one over. I've been fortunately playing consistently these past months and I've had good game time."

9:19 AM IST, 11:48 PM Local Time: That’s it. Heartbreak for Scotland. They gave it all and came very close to making it to the Super 8 stage but lose to Australia by five wickets to get knocked out of the T20 World Cup 2024. They needed to win tonight but fail to do so and are out of the competition.

England, meanwhile, will be relieved with this result as they progress to the Super 8 stage. The defending champions will thank their arch-rivals Australia for helping them stay alive.
The mighty Aussies have put a professional performance tonight to stay unbeaten in this edition of the T20 World Cup.

Chasing a formidable total of 181, Australia got off to a shaky start as David Warner (1) and skipper Mitchell Marsh (8) departed inside the powerplay. The Scottish bowlers bowled beautifully upfront and didn’t allow the Australian batters to get away. Travis Head looked settled at the crease. It was another short stay for Glenn Maxwell (11). Marcus Stoinis arrived at the crease and started positively.

Stoinis gave Australia the much-needed impetus. They were quickly back on track as Stoinis counter-attacked brilliantly. Head brought up his fifty off 45 balls and teed off. He hit three consecutive sixes in the 16th over off Safyan Sharif before holing out in the deep on 68. Stoinis got to his fifty off just 25 balls. He got cleaned up on 29-ball 59 but Tim David (28*) and Matthew Wade (4*) remained unbeaten to take their side across the line with five wickets in hand with two balls to spare.

After being inserted to bat, Scotland lost Michael Jones (2) in the very first over. George Munsey was joined by Brandon McMullen and they played aggressively right from the start. They played some fantastic shots and took Scotland to 54/1 at the end of the powerplay. Munsey and McMullen put 89 for the second wicket before the former fell on 35. McMullen brought up his fifty off just 26 balls, the fastest for Scotland in T20 World Cups.

McMullen holed out in the deep after scoring 60 off just 34 balls. His departure allowed Australia to pull back things. They were rusty with the ball in the first half but bowled beautifully in the second half. The Scottish side lost its way a bit and Richard Berrington scored an unbeaten 42 to take Scotland to 180/5 at the end of their innings. Glenn Maxwell picked up two wickets for Australia. They were in a tricky situation in the chase but held their nerves to emerge victorious.

Stick around for the post-match presentation.

6 SIX! Australia win in style and help out their rivals England to qualify for Super 8s! Full length delivery, on the stumps, heaves it over deep mid-wicket for a MAXIMUM! That will be the exclamation mark for Australia!
Dropped!!! Ohh Dear!!! Sole, what have you done? You need to catch those to win World Cup games. To make matters worse for Scotland, the batters complete two runs. 1 required from 3 now.
19.3 B Wheal to T David
2 SCORES ARE LEVEL! A costly mistake from Sole and he has 'dropped' Scotland's chances of qualifying! Length delivery, on the stumps, David lifts it high in the air and towards Sole at deep square, but Sole cannot settle underneath and take that catch!
3 required from 4 now.
19.2 B Wheal to M Wade
1 Around the wicket, length delivery, on the off stump, slaps it down the ground for a single.
Good start from Wheal. 4 required from 5 now.
19.1 B Wheal to T David
1 Wheal begins the final over, full length delivery, on the stumps, digs it out through mid-on to pick up a single.
