A tame end to this fixture. We have got another game tomorrow between Pakistan and Ireland at the same venue. Let's hope the rain stays away and we get a full game. For now, it's time for us to take your leave. This is Akshay Bhide, signing off, on behalf of my co-commentator AkshayaKrishna Polya and scorer Raju Khariya. Until next time, cheers and good bye.
9:02 PM IST, 11:32 AM Local Time: Out walk the umpires for another inspection. They don't look much pleased with the outfield which looks damp right now. They have a chat with the match referee Andy Pycroft. The match has been abandoned.

The players from both sides shake hands. The match officials think that the conditions won't improve and with the overcast conditions, it very unlikely that the game will begin. So, they have decided to call off the match. Both sides share a point each and India enter the Super 8 stage unbeaten. It's the end of the road for Canada.
8:32 PM IST, 11:02 AM Local Time: The hair dryers continue to dry the damp areas. Just in case you missed, we won't be losing any overs till 9:30 PM IST (12 PM Local Time). So, that's a good sign.
8:02 PM IST, 10:32 AM Local Time: The inspection is underway. Sharfuddoula and Rod Tucker are having a look at the damp areas along with reserve umpire Chris Gaffaney. Meanwhile, a few of the Indian players are engaging in a game of football along with the support staff members.
There will be another official inspection at 9 PM IST (11:30 AM Local Time).
Ground report (Mike Haysman): "I'm standing here and there is no standing water at this stage. It is an improvement from yesterday. The problem here is that the outfield is sand-based. There was plenty of rain in the last few days. But the groundsmen have been working hard to get the field ready for play. As I stand here, it's not firm. There are four massive hair dryers around the concerned area, drying the outfield. Since these hair dryers are out here, it looks good. Still, a lot of works need to be done for today's game to begin. There is also a little bit of breeze flowing across the ground."
7:30 PM IST, 10 AM Local Time: The mizzle has stopped but the square remains under covers as the sky is gloomy. Let's hope there isn't any rain and we get a positive news from the inspection that is scheduled to take place at 8 PM IST (10:30 AM Local Time).
7 PM IST, 9:30 AM Local Time: First things first. It was raining earlier and it has come down to a mizzle now. The outfield is wet and there will be an official inspection at 8 PM IST (10:30 AM Local Time). That means the toss has been delayed. For now, the square is under covers.

Before flying to the Caribbean Islands, India have one more challenge coming up in the group stage of the T20 World Cup 2024 as they lock horns with Canada in the 33rd match at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill, Florida, on Saturday (June 15).

India are on top of the Group A points table, with six points from three matches, winning all of them to qualify for the Super 8 stage. The Rohit Sharma-led side is coming a dominating seven-wicket victory against co-hosts USA.

Bowling first at the Nassau County, the Men in Blue restricted USA to 110/8 in 20 overs. Arshdeep Singh was the star of the show, with figures of 4/9. Hardik Pandya continued his good run with a fantastic spell of 2/14. Jasprit Bumra and Mohammed Siraj weren't amongst the wickets, while spinner Axar Patel bagged one scalp.

It wasn't a straightforward run chase for the Asian side, as they lost both veteran openers to Saurabh Netravalkar's left-arm pace inside the powerplay. Virat Kohli's form has been a big concern for Team India. Kohli has only scored five runs in 3 innings so far. Suryakumar Yadav stood tall alongside Shivam Dube, who struggled initially but managed to score important runs in the end. SKY hit his 50th T20 half-century and remained unbeaten on 50 off 49 balls, while Dube smacked 31 off 35 balls as the MI-CSK duo steered the inaugural champions over the line with 7 wickets and 10 balls to spare.

On the flip side, the North American side is in the fourth place, penultimate position, with only two points from three matches. They have one win and two defeats in their kitty. They are already out of the tournament.

Conversely, Canada are coming off a seven-wicket loss at the hands of Pakistan, who, too, have been knocked out of this marquee event. Put into bat first, the Saad Bin Zafar-led side could only post 106/7 in 20 overs. Opener Aaron Johnson weathered the storm with a gutsy fifty, but the rest of the batters failed to support the aggressive right-hander. Pacers Dillon Heyliger and Jeremy Gordon shared three wickets among them but couldn't stop the Men in Green from chasing the target set by Canada as they conceded 107 runs in just 17.3 overs.

The weather at Lauderhill hasn't been great. It was raining heavily all day. The two games that were set to be played at Lauderhill earlier in the tournament were abandoned due to rain without the toss.

Can India leap into the Super 8s, remaining unbeaten? To know, join us at 7:00 PM IST and 9:30 AM Local Time on Saturday for its live coverage!
Trivia: This will be the first-ever meet-up between Canada and India in T20Is.
