it!! What a nail-biting game this was, Kolhapur Tuskers held their nerves till
the end and registered their first victory in MPL 2023. They chase down the target
in 19.4 overs and defeated the Ratnagiri
Jets by
4 wickets. Ankit Bawne was the hero of the match!
Earlier in the game, Kolhapur Tuskers won the toss and elected to bowl first. Tushar Shrivastav and Dhiraj Dhiraj Phatangare opened the innings for Ratnagiri Jets and they didn’t get a good start as they lost the wicket of Dhiraj Phatangare in the second over of the innings.
The credit goes to Tushar Shrivastav and Preetam Patil. The duo took charge after the early first wicket and started with a slow run rate but once they settled, accelerated the innings well and glued a solid partnership of 93 runs in 62 balls.
Preetam Patil was the top scorer for the Jets as he named his first half-century in MPL and was dismissed at 69 off 32 balls. Tushar Shrivastav scored 32 runs, skipper Azim Kazi (18), Kiran Chormale (27), and a small cameo from Nikhil Naik (16 runs off 5 balls) helped to past the 170 mark. Ratnagiri Jets 176/4 in 20 overs.
From Tuskers bowling point of view, Manoj Yadav, Shreyash Chavan, Akshay Darekar, and Taranjitsingh Dhillon extracted a solitary wicket each.
While chasing a total of 177 runs, Kolhapur Tuskers lost their icon player( Kedar Jadhav) in the last ball of the first over. Ankit Bawne and Sachin Dhas, this duo stitched the run-a-ball partnership (37 runs) before Sachin Dhas walks off the field at 13.
Ankit Bawne started his innings with a slow run rate and balanced himself in the crease and then started striking on the Jets bowlers. Ankit Bawne glued a 33 runs partnership with Naushad Shaikh and a 23 runs partnership with Siddharth Mhatre in the middle overs.
He registered the first-ever MPL century in his name, stayed unbeaten at 105 runs off 60 balls and Manoj Yadav(7* off 2) finished the game with maximum as Tuskers crossed the victory line in 19.4 overs with 4 wickets in hand.
From the Jets bowling side, Pradeep Dadhe was the pick of the bowler as his figures of 3/31 from his 4 overs, while Nikit Dhumal and Kunal Thorat, and Vijay Pawale with a wicket each.
