Chasing a mammoth total of 237, Kiran Carlson and Sam Northeast propelled the hosts to a decent start and collected some early boundaries in the field restrictions. The right-handed Carlson was the primary aggressor for Glamorgan and aggregated a quick 22(14) before he was outdone by Sam Curran. Skipper Chris Jordan then cleaned up Callum Taylor 4(3) in the first ball on his spell to give Surrey the whip hand in the contest.
After losing two wickets inside the powerplay, Colin Ingram paired up with Northeast to revive the Glamorgan innings. The left-right pair absorbed the pressure and stitched a 30-run stand for the second wicket but they were unable to push the pedal. Ingram eventually succumbed to pressure and departed for a scratchy 11(11). Northeast kept plugging away but the wickets kept tumbling for Glamorgan from the other end.
Prem Sisodiya 23(14) portrayed some late pyrotechnics but the game was already done and dusted by then. Northeast completed a valiant half-century and orchestrated 76(54). The Surrey pacers bowled with accuracy in the middle overs and dried up the boundaries. Gus Atkinson was the pick of the bowlers for Surrey and finished his stint with the figures of 2/24. Chris Jordan clinched two wickets and Sam Curran also picked up a couple of wickets despite being a touch expensive.Earlier in the day, after electing to bat first, the opening pair of Will Jacks and Laurie Evans took Surrey to an assertive start by accumulating 56 off the powerplay. Evans was beaten by the extra bounce on a couple of occasions but the right-hander quickly adapted to the conditions and took the aggressive route on the spinners. Jacks was happy to play the second fiddle to him and he also displayed some resilience.
The right-handed duo of Jacks and Evans stitched a 115-run opening partnership before the Aussie leg-spinner Peter Hatzoglou did the trick for Glamorgan and trapped Jacks 46(29) in front. Evans continued his assault despite the departure of his opening companion and notched up a ferocious century. Sam Curran joined forces with him and kept the boundaries flowing for the visitors.
The Glamorgan were unable to stem the flow of runs throughout the innings as Surrey batters collected heaps of boundaries at the backend of the innings. The left-right pair of Curran and Evans added 118 runs for the second wicket before the southpaw Curran 66(29) holed out in the deep in the final over. Evans was unscathed on 118*(60) after the first innings and helped Surrey to post a formidable total on board.
