The pitch was under the cover for the last 2-3 days so, winning the toss was important for us. Rahim is an accomplished campaigner, and our team includes many young people. We are focusing on each game individually, the next one is tomorrow. Amir has been a champion for a very long time, while Raja has recently been bowling brilliantly."
Rejaur Rahman Raja (Player of the match): "I made an effort to follow the procedure and aim my bowls in the proper spots. Fortunately, trying a few different things and trying to bowl in the ideal spots paid off. The contributions of Mortaza and Rahim should be acknowledged."
Shuvagata Hom ( Captain Chattogram Challengers): "We didn't start well as we expected and the pitch got better later on. Our bowlers tried to get early wickets but in the next match, we will come back stronger. The pitch was two-paced today and we will try to bat accordingly in the next match."

4:16 PM IST | Deepak: An easy win for the Sylhet Strikers in the inaugural match of BPL 2023 as they thumped the Chattogram Challengers by 8 wickets🎯 with 45 balls to spare.
After being invited to bat first, the Challengers struggled to get going on a challenging pitch and against a strong Sylhet bowling attack. Afif Hossain was the top scorer for the Challengers with 25 runs, but the rest of the batters struggled to make an impact. Rejaur Rahman Raja💥 was the pick of the bowlers for the Strikers, taking 4 wickets for just 14 runs in 4 overs.
In response, the Strikers lost their first wicket early as Colin Ackermann departed for 1 run. However, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Zakir Hasan put on a strong partnership of 63 runs for the second wicket, with Shanto finishing unbeaten on 43 runs off 41 balls and Hasan scoring 27 runs off 21 balls. Mushfiqur Rahim also contributed 6 not out as the Strikers chased down the 89-run target🎯 with ease, winning by 8 wickets with 45 balls to spare. Mrittunjoy Chowdhury and Malinda Pushpakumara were the only bowlers to take a wicket for the Challengers.
Overall, it was a dominant performance by the Sylhet Strikers, who will be pleased with their comprehensive victory in the inaugural match of the BPL 2023. The Challengers will need to regroup and come back stronger in their next match.
