7:14 PM IST| Probuddha: What a win!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!! Just one word, unbelievable. Bangladesh have pulled off an unreal heist here. Mehidy Hasan Miraz made it a one-man show as he took his team home under pressure.
Earlier in the day, Litton Das won the toss and decided to field first. India lost Shikhar within the 5th over of the innings, and after that, Virat and Rohit were looking to take time out in the middle to stabilize the innings.
In the 11th over of the innings, India lost both their pillars. Shakib Al Hasan gave a huge double blow to India, because of which India failed to reach a formidable total.
But after this, India put together a couple of decent partnerships. KL Rahul (73 off 70) was the man holding it together for India as Shreyas Iyer (24 off 39) and Washington Sundar (19 off 43) played around him. But by the 33rd over of the innings, India lost two more wickets, and this resulted in a collapse that prevented India from reaching 200.
India lost 6 wickets for 34 runs and was bundled out for 186 runs in 41.2 overs. Shakib finished with the figures of 5 for 36 in his 10 overs. He was aided by Ebadot Hossain, who picked up 4 wickets for 47 runs in 8.2 overs.
In the chase, India got off to a dream start as Deepak Chahar dismissed Shanto on the very first ball. In the 10th over the innings, Siraj gave India the 2nd success in the form of Anamul Haque when Bangladesh’s score was just 26 runs. After this, Shakib Al Hasan and Litton Das, the two most experienced batters of the Bangladesh batting order, steadied their ship and gradually took them closer to the target.
Washington Sundar brought India back into the match with two quick wickets of Litton Das (41 off 63) and Shakib Al Hasan (29 off 38). But Mahmudullah Riyad and Mushfiqur Rahim once again stitched a decent partnership of 33 runs, and it appeared that they will take the hosts across the line.
But the Indian bowlers had different ideas, Shardul Thakur and Mohammed Siraj picked up Mahmudullah (14 off 35) and Mushfiqur (18 off 45) of consecutive deliveries to bring India back into the match again.
Bangladesh lost a cluster of wickets, and it looked like India would win the match. But Mehidy Hasan Miraz fought till the end, trying to take his team across the line. The chase was stretched by the last pair of Bangladesh, and it was a thrilling contest till the end.
And it was Mehidy Hasan who played a gem of a knock, scoring 38 off 39 runs and taking Bangladesh to a one-wicket win with 4 overs remaining in the match.
