Match Details
New Zealand got off to a disastrous start as they lost Devon Conway for a golden duck to Naseem Shah. The New Zealand innings never got going from that point as loads of people got starts but did not kick on to a substantial score. Finn Allen scored 29. Kane Williamson scored 26. Daryl Mitchell scored 36. Tom Latham looked good for his 42. Glenn Phillips scored 37. Michael Bracewell played well and top-scored with 43 off 42 balls. Cameos from Mitchell Santner (21 off 18) and Tim Southee (15* off 11) took New Zealand past the 250-run mark as they finished with 255/9 in 50 overs. Just 5 extras were given by Pakistan in what was a disciplined bowling performance from them.
Naseem Shah was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan with
exceptional figures of 5/ 57 in 10 overs. He was ably supported by the two
spinners Usama Mir and Mohammad Nawaz. Mir had 2 wickets to his name in his
2/42 in 10 overs. Nawaz bowled well for his 1/38 in 10 overs. Mir’s two wickets
included Kane Williamson and Tom Latham the two big players for New Zealand.
Mohammad Wasim Junior picked up the other wicket to fall. Haris Rauf was a
little off-color as went for 54 runs in 8 overs and did not pick up a wicket.
So, a win for Pakistan by 6 wickets with 11 balls to spare to go 1-0 up in the series. Stick around for the post-match presentation ceremony that comes your way soon.
