Chamari Athapaththu | Sri Lanka Skipper: "Pretty happy with our batting performance. Especially Harshitha who has carried forward her batting form. Nilakshi is back in form and happy to see them contributing. I’m out of form but will try to get back in the next game. If we get a good start, our middle-overs batters can carry on batting. We dropped catches in the last two overs and need to improve that area in our upcoming games because catches win matches."
Earlier in the day, opting to bat 1st, Sri Lankan Women got off to a terrific start courtesy of H Madavi and C Athapaththu as they put on 63 for the 1st wicket in 8.3 overs. Athapaththu was eventually dismissed for 12 to a terrific catch by the Thai keeper. Hasini Perera coming in at 3 did not last much as she was involved in a mix-up and departed for 6.
Nilakshi de Silva joined hands with Madavi and the duo put on 61 in quick time. Madavi was eventually dismissed for a brilliant 81 off 69.De Silva in the end played some lusty shots to end with an unbeaten 39 off 21 to take SRI LANKA WOMEN beyond 150.
Thai Women bowled tidy
in the first half of the innings but leaked runs at the backend. T Puttawong
was the pick of the bowlers with 2 for 26 in her 4-over spell. Laomi and Boochatham
shared a wicket a piece.
A complete all-round performance takes Sri Lankan Women to number 3 in the points table.
