Sri Lanka Legends outplayed the Bangladesh Legends in all he departments today, they win the match comprehensively by 70 runs! It was way too big a target for Bangladesh to chase down, they tried their best but fell well short!!
Earlier in the day, Bangladesh won the toss and invited SLL to bat first on a flat-looking surface. The openers Sanath Jayasuriya and Mahela Udawatte started off brilliantly, making full use of the powerplay overs. Sri Lanka Legends posted 52 after the end of the powerplay.
Jayasuriya hammered the bowlers all around the park and was ably supported by Udawatte on the other end. Abdur Razzak got the first breakthrough for Bangladesh Legends and ended the 56-run stand between the openers. Jayasuriya departed after scoring 37 of 25, Dilshan joined Udawatte, and together they stitched a magnificent partnership of 57.
Udawatte was dismissed on 43 of 27. Dilshan carried his aggressive way and looked in terrific touch! He got past his 50 and was dismissed by Hossain, but by then the damage was done!!
SLL finished with a mammoth total of 213/5 in their 20 over and it was going to be a very difficult chase for the man in green. Nizamuddin and Aftab Ahmed walked out to open the batting for the Bangladesh Legends, they got off to a poor start losing Aftab in the very first over. Alok Kapali walked in with aggressive intent and smashed the bowlers all around the park.
Spin was introduced into the attack and pulled things back for SL, Bangladesh kept losing wickets at regular intervals and couldn't keep up with the required run rate which was sky rocketing. Tushar Imran was the only one who showed some resistance, he hit a fantastic 52 of 54 before getting dismissed by Dilshan! Abul Hasan scored 29 of 16 and he too was sent back to the dressing room by Dilshan.
Eventually, Bangladesh got to 143/8 in their 20, falling well short of the target!! Sri Lanka are a solid team and showed why they are the favourites to win this tournament!!
