So that’s that and it’s the Canterbury Kings that have steamrolled the Central Stags to a secure comprehensive win by 56 Runs.
Batting first the Kings lost an early wicket as Ken McClure was dismissed for not by Bevan Small. However, that by no means stopped Chad Bowes as he continued his good run of form with the bat and powered his way through a dominant 89 (52). Bowes struck 12 fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 171.15 before getting stumped to Ajaz Patel. The opening batter accumulated a 104 run partnership with Leo Carter that provided Canterbury with the platform of posting a big first innings total.
Carter started off slow and gave Bowes majority of the strike at the beginning but steadily came onto to his element as the inning went by. Carter took his knock to the next gear once Bowes departed and eventually ended up scoring a quickfire 70 (45) at a strike rate of 155.55 with eight boundaries and a six to his name. The skipper’s cameo of 20 (15) also came in handy as the the Kings got to 189/3 from 20 overs of play.
For the Stags it was Ajaz Patel who was the pick of the bowlers courtesy his spell of 1/27 from four.
The run chase began in a horrid manner for the Central Stags as they lost four wickets for 30 runs in just 5 overs. Bayley Wiggins and Will Young were both dismissed, caught behind by William O’Rourke for 2 (3) and 0 (2) respectively. Bevan Small had to walk back for 1 (3) after getting out LBW by Foulkes, while Ben Smith departed for 19 (18) as Ed Nuttall chipped in.
Tom Bruce did try to put in a fight with his 27 (19) but it was Nuttal who struck with his second wicket of the game.
It was William Clark who topped the charts for his side with a ….. But it was of no avail as the rest of the batters didn’t have much to offer throughout the course of the game.
Zakaray Foulkes led the pack with his spell of 3/22 from four overs, while William O’Rourke, and Ed Nuttal also impressed with two wickets apiece. Agnus McKenzie and Todd Astle chipped in with a wicket each.
