Match Details
In pursuit of a challenging total of 173, the Otago Volts were in all sorts of trouble early on. Neil Wagner spearheaded the bowling attack and he dismissed Cole Briggs 0(3) in the first over of the innings. That was soon followed by two quick wickets of William O Donnell 0(4) and Robert O Donnell 0(1).
Following that, Sean Solia joined forces with George Worker and tried to resurrect Auckland's innings but Solia 6(10) also departed attempting an unconventional strike. The Aces kept losing wickets at regular intervals and they were reeling at 28/5 when Kyle Jamieson walked into bat. The right-hander kept marching on and chalked up 45(36), including 6 fours and 1 maximum but was always short of partners at the other end.
Neil Wagner was the pick of the bowlers for Brave and he claimed three crucial top-order wickets by giving away just 26 runs. Scott Kuggeleijn also exploited the extra bounce on offer and finished his stint on 2/10. The off-break bowler Joe Walker and the pacer Kristian Clarke also extracted a couple of scalps each to ease past Auckland to a massive victory. Stick around for the post-match presentation!
