Chasing 180, Sindh lost Sharjeel Khan early for 11. Saim Ayub
(46 off 24) and skipper Saud Shakeel (22 off 18) had a partnership of 60 in
just 6 overs. They departed in quick succession as Sindh lost 3 wickets in a
heap. Omair Bin Yousuf batting at 4 played sensibly in the chase and remained unbeaten
on 51 from 36 balls. D Aziz scored 19 in the middle and added 53 with Yousuf. Anwar Ali came in and
hit a brutal unbeaten 32 off 13 which included 24 runs from the 19th over by Daniyal. A terrific run chase by Sindh gets them into the final.
Central Punjab bowlers had a mixed bag today and their unbeaten run of winning 4 matches comes to an end. U Mir picked up 2 wickets for his side. Q Akram, A Yamin, and W Maqsood got a wicket a-piece. The bowlers were tidy in bits and pieces but could not contain the Sindh batters. A Daniyal's 19th over went for 24 and was the game-changer. Their journey comes to an end in this year's competition.
Earlier in the day, Central Punjab, Opting
into Bat 1st, was off to a terrific start courtesy of
their openers. M Akhlaq (28 off 15) and M Faizan (52 off 31) added quick 78 in
just over 6 overs. T Tahir was dismissed for 5. S Malik was dismissed early for
9. Skipper Qasim Akram played a good knock of 25 off 18 but was dismissed at
the wrong time. Irfan Niazi coming in at 6 scored an important 36* off 27 balls
to get the score beyond 175.
The Sindh bowling was decent, Zahid Mahmood was the star of
the show picking 4 for 20 in his spell and got back Sindh back into the game
after an explosive start. A wicket each for Sohail Khan, Danish Aziz, and Asif
Mehmood as they restricted the Central Punjab side below 180 after the start
they got. A really good comeback from the Sindh bowlers as they came back
strongly into the match.
A brilliant run chase by Sindh gets them into the finals where they will meet Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
