Saipavan: Southern Punjab have won this encounter by beats Balochistan by 21 runs. With
this win, they register their first win of the competition and replace Central
Punjab at the fourth spot in the points table.
Chasing 157, the Balochistan started inning
with Haseebullah and Asad Shafiq. They had a great start with openers and built
up a partnership of 57 runs in the 8.2 overs for the first wicket before Haseebullah
departed at 21 runs off 22 balls. Balochistan scored
50 runs without loss of any wicket in
the powerplay. Asad Shafiq looked great
in middle and scored 43 runs off 35 balls with the help of 5 fours and a six and
was dismissed. Bangalzai and Masood never looked good in the middle and departed at 8 and 7 respectively.
Sohail and Talat resumed the inning. They both put 29 runs between them before
Sohail departed at 9. Afterward, Amad Butt also contributed his 7 runs in the middle and was dismissed. Hussain Talat played well
and scored 30 off 25 balls with the help of 3 fours and departed as the 8th
wicket then no one will look comfortable in middle and they finished at 135
loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs.
Agha Salman was the pick of the bowler, gave away 15 runs in his 4 overs, and scalped 3 wickets. Sameen Gul picked 2 wickets while Akram and Randhawa took 1-1 wickets each for Southern Punjab.
Earlier in the day, Southern
Punjab won the toss and opt to bat first. They started their innings with Zain Abbas and Sohaib Maqsood but Maqsood walks back to the pavilion as a
retired out after the first over. Zeeshan Ashraf joined Abbas. They got a solid start and built up a partnership of 37 runs for 1st wicket.
Abbas looked good in the middle but went off at 19. Ashraf was also dismissed at 12
runs.
Siraj and Moinuddin resumed the
inning and they both put up 11 runs before Moinuddin departed at 7. Maqsood
came to bat again and hit one boundary and was dismissed at 12. Southern
Punjab lost 6 wickets at 80. Afterward, Sharoon Siraj
and Mohammad Ilyas both looked good in the middle and built up a partnership of 76
runs for 7th wickets. Siraj looked great in the middle and completed
half-century and stayed unbeaten at 57 runs with the help of 6 fours and 2
sixes. Mohammad Ilyas also stayed unbeaten at 41 runs off 17 balls. Southern
Punjab ended their inning at 156.
Yasir Shah was the pick of
the bowler, gave away 17 runs in his 4 overs, and scalped 3 wickets while Akif
Javed pocketed 2 wickets and Amad Butt took one wicket for Balochistan.
