Match Details
Earlier in the day, Brisbane Heat put into bat first by the
Melbourne Renegades did not get off to the best of starts. Georgia Redmayne
could muster only 3 runs while Danielle Wyatt on her debut for the Heat could
muster 6. Grace Harris was, unfortunately, run out when she was looking good for
her 20 runs. Georgia Voll stepped up to the plate and top scored for Heat
scoring 52 off 37 balls. Amelia Kerr chipped in with 27 off 22 balls before she
was run out.
Laura Harris chipped in with 14 off 5 balls with most of the runs
coming in the Power Surge. Skipper Jess Jonassen was the last man run out for
16 off 14 balls. Pooja Vastrakar stayed unbeaten on her WBBL debut as she scored
13* off 5 balls. 8 extras were given by the Renegades bowlers as Heat ended
with a competitive 163/8 in 20 overs.
Each of the Renegades bowlers apart from Ella Hayward picked up a wicket. So, the wickets were shared between Shabnim Ismail, Sophie Molineux, Hayley Matthews, Sarah Coyte, and Prestwidge picked up a wicket each. There were 3 run-outs in the innings as well. Matthews and Prestwidge despite taking wickets were taken to the cleaners.
So, the Heat Women win this game by 26 runs and climbs upwards in the points table while the Renegades lose two in a row after winning their opening game. A lot to think about for the Renegades going into their next game as Heat flies higher in the table.
