NIKHIL: So, we are done here with Sydney Sixers Women winning the game by 27 runs.
Sydney Sixers Women started off in a solid manner as they managed to score 29 for the loss of 1 wicket in the powerplay and added a further 17 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in the power surge overs. Healy and Perry batted well together for the 2nd wicket partnership as they added 59 runs together. The Sixers lost their way a bit after a really good start as they lost a little too many wickets in the middle. It was for splendid innings of 43 runs by Healy that the Sydney Sixers Women managed to score 125 runs.
For Melbourne Stars Women, Kim Garth and Annabel Sutherland were outstanding as they scalped a couple each While Tess Flintoff and Alice Capsey picked up a wicket too.
In reply to the target set by the Sixers Women, the Stars Women started off on a decent note as the openers came out all guns blazing and managed to score 31 for 1 in the powerplay. Heath and Winfield batted well for the 1st wicket partnership as they scored 50 runs. Heath in particular started well as she smashed the bowlers all around the park scoring 37 runs. The flurry of wickets in the middle stages damaged the run flow as a result they failed to chase this total down.
For Sydney Sixers Women, Brown was fantastic as she took a total of 3 wickets and Gardner took a couple of wickets. While Ecclestone, Bolton and Cheatle took a wicket too.
Stars in an opening couple of games don’t look like a side that would be there in the finals. While Sydney Sixers is off to a tremendous start with 3 wins in 3 games.
