Match Details
Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Sydney Sixers lost Josh Philippe and Kurtis Patterson early. Steve Smith managed 18 runs today as the Sixers were in a spot of bother at 42/3 at one stage. But then the skipper Moises Henriques and Jordan Silk steadied the ship for the Sixers and shared an 88-run stand for the fourth wicket. Henriques fell for 58 off 43 balls. Jordan Silk was unbeaten on 47* off 34 balls as he lost partners at the other end post-Henriques’ dismissal. Sean Abbott scored 10 off 6 balls as they ended with 151/8 after 20 overs. 8 extras were given by the fielding side.
Jason Behrendorff was the pick of the bowlers for the Perth
Scorchers. He had figures of 2/17 in 4 overs. David Payne picked up 3 wickets
for 33 runs in 4 overs. Aaron Hardie and Andrew Tye got a wicket each. Lance
Morris went wicketless but kept it tight. All in all, a good effort with the
ball from the home side. They were also sloppy in the field but largely held it together.
So, a win for the Perth Scorchers by 7 wickets with 9 balls left to qualify for the finals. They will host the final on February 4th while the Sixers will get a second chance as they will play the Challenger and host it at the SCG on February 2nd.
