Match Details
Rovman Powell(Jamaica Tallawahs Captain): "The guys have been playing well. The first 10 overs, we just got 40-50 runs. The guys are in good form. Once they bat well in actual games, we have enough firepower in the batting department. The guys have shown a tough fight despite not scoring much."
David Miller (Barbados Royals Captain): "Have spoken about momentum in these kinds of competitions. Good team performance from everyone in almost every game. Good to start well. Chasing 150 odd, you need a good start. Lot of hard work still to do."
Obed McCoy (Player of the match): "Everyone is gelling together. We are having fun. Was pretty good. I always strive for consistency. I normally watch the feet of the batter. Given the conditions of the ground and the pitch, I try different things."
Earlier in the day, Barbados Won the toss and opted to bowl first, the bowlers responded very well, Kyle Mayers broke through early, and Jamaica was 7-2 in 3.3 and once again it came down to captain Powell to rescue them.. He played a captain's knock of 52 runs in 31 deliveries, hitting 3 sixes and 5 boundaries.
The third wicket 57 runs partnership between Jangoo and Powell set the tone very well for Jamaica and later there was a good finish by Reifer. 34 run partnership off 18 deliveries for the fourth wicket was the point when the Jamaican batsman started accelerating. Allen joined Reifer in the middle and powered Jamaica Tallawahs to a formidable total of 157!
De Kock and Mayers walked out to open the batting for Barbados and took them off to a good start before Mayers was sent back to the dressing room by Chris Green. Corbin Bosch joined De Kock in the middle and together they stitched up a magnificent partnership and took the game away from Jamaica Tallawahs, they were punishing the bad balls and rotates strike extremely well, always ahead of the required run rate.
On the first ball of the 18th over, Bosch was dismissed after making a well-made 56 of 49 deliveries. David Miller the skipper of Barbados joined De Kock and took their team past the finishing line!! There was a bit of pressure towards the end but Barbados held their nerve and got over the line!! De Kock finished with an unbeaten 64 of 53 and saw them through to victory!!
