Match Details
Earlier in the game, New Zealand after being put into bat
first got off to a blazing start. Finn Allen struck three boundaries in the
first over before Naseem got Shah got him for 12. Devon Conway struggled for
his 14 off 17 balls. It was a welcome return to form from New Zealand’s skipper
Kane Williamson. His 25th T20I fifty held the New Zealand innings
together. He top-scored with 59 off 38 balls.
Handy contributions from Glenn
Phillips (29 off 22), Mark Chapman (25 off 19), and James Neesham (17 off 10)
took New Zealand to 163/7 with the help of four extras given by the Pakistan
bowlers. New Zealand could only muster 33 runs in the last five overs for the
loss of 4 wickets.
It was an excellent comeback by the Pakistan bowlers, especially at the death. Haris Rauf was the pick of the bowlers with 2/22 in 4
overs. Naseem Shah was hit in the initial overs but came back well to finish
with a couple of wickets for 38 runs in 4 overs. The two spinners Shadab Khan
and Mohammad Nawaz picked up a wicket each. Shadab had figures of 1/30 in 4
overs while Nawaz went for 33 runs in 4 overs apart from picking up a wicket.
Mohammad Wasim went wicketless today as he was hit for 37 runs.
So, a win for Pakistan by 5 wickets as they win the Tri-Series. Stay tuned for the post-match presentation ceremony that comes your way soon.
