Chasing a stiff target of 302 for the series win, the Kiwis
lost Finn Allen early. But then a combined batting effort from the others set
the chase up nicely. Martin Guptill scored 57 and was involved in an 82-run
stand with Devon Conway who contributed with 56 to his name. They lost two
wickets quickly in the middle. But skipper Tom Latham and Daryl Mitchell
stitched in a match-winning stand of 120 runs to take the game away from the Windies.
Tom Latham led from the front with 69. But Daryl Mitchell played the
game-changing innings of 63 off 49 balls to give the momentum to the chase in
overs 31-40 where they scored over 80 runs for the loss of 0 wickets.
Both fell at the end, but the match was as good as over
then. In the end, it was Michael Bracewell and the finisher James Neesham who
finished things off here. Michael Bracewell remained unbeaten on 14 off 16 balls while the finisher stayed unbeaten on 34 off 11 balls with 4 sixes in it as the chase was completed in 47.1 overs. 11 extras given by the hosts.
The West Indies bowlers struggled with the dew. Jason Holder picked up a couple of wickets for 37 runs in 7 overs. A couple of wickets for Cariah who went for 19 in his final over today. A wicket for Joseph, but the majority of the bowlers went the distance as they struggled with the wet ball.

blazing start courtesy of their openers, Shai Hope and Kyle Mayers. The duo put on
173 for the first wicket in 34.5 overs before Shai Hope fell for 51 off 100
balls. Kyle Mayers completed a majestic ton as he top-scored with 105 off 110.
The Windies lost wickets in clusters through the middle overs.
Nicholas Pooran held the innings together as he scored a blistering 91 off 55 balls which included 4 fours and 9 sixes to his name. While the middle order crumbled with single-digit scores, it was Alzarri Joseph’s 20 off 6 balls that powered the West Indies to 301-8 in 50 overs. 21 extras contributed to the total. The Windies scored 105 runs in the last ten overs.
Trent Boult was the pick of the New Zealand bowlers with 3-53
in 10 overs. He was ably supported by Mitchell Santner who picked up 2 wickets
for 38 runs in 10 overs. Tim Southee was economical in his 1-47 in 10 overs.
Lockie Ferguson went the distance as he gave away 80 runs in 10 overs for a
wicket to his name. Michael Bracewell went wicketless in his 6 overs for 43
runs. A wicket for James Neesham as he picked up a wicket for 30 runs in 4
overs.
