India won the toss and opt to bowl first. Srilanka started
their batting with Hasini Perera and
Vishmi Gunaratne, but
they had a bad start with the early wicket of Hasini Perera on a golden
duck in just the first over of the game. Renuka Thakur strikes again and
removed Vishmi Gunaratne at 3.
Then Harshitha Madavi joined Chamari Athapaththu
in the middle, but she was dismissed without opening the account. After ward
Chamari Athapaththu and Anusha Sanjeewani, they both look good in the middle and
put up a partnership of 31 runs for the 4th wicket. Then skipper Chamari
Athapaththu got dismissed after scoring 27 runs off 45 deliveries.
De Silva and
Sanjeewani Anushka both tried to settle in middle but Anusha Sanjeewani
went off at 25 in 44 balls. Then De Silva and Kanchana played the spinners
pretty well and they spent some time in the middle and built a partnership of 42
runs for the 7th wicket. after that Ama Kanchana played well
and went off at 47 in the final over of the innings.
With the help of Kanchana’s
good knock at the end, Srilanka scored 173 runs and lost 10 wickets in their 50
overs. From the India side, Renuka Singh Thakur was the pick of the bowlers for
India he took 4 wickets and gave away 28 runs in her 10 overs. Meghna Singh
also bowled well and took three wickets. Deepti Sharma finished with 2 wickets.
In returns Indian women’s started chasing with Shefali Verma
and Smriti Mandhana, both look comfortable in middle and they played
control shots at the start of the innings. Then settled in the middle and went for big shots. India women scored 100 runs in 18.2 over without loss of any
wicket. They outplayed the Sri Lankans, Both the batters were not shying off in hitting the odd balls to boundaries.
Smriti Mandhana completed 23rd Fifty in ODI and stays unbeaten at 93 in
84 deliveries. Shefali Verma also completed 4th Fifty in ODI and stays unbeaten
at 71 in 71 deliveries. After both completed half-centuries they changes their
batting to aggressive mode and they finished the game in 25.4 overs.
On the other
end, Srilanka bowlers tried to break this partnership but they fail till the end of
the innings, they created chances at the starting but their fielders failed to
back them up. Lankan bowlers were not good with line and length and they got punished by the Indian batters
