Sunrisers Hyderabad needed a brisk start to harbour hopes of chasing down a very stiff target but that wasn’t to be. Man in form Abhishek Sharma had to depart early as Khaleel Ahmed accounted him with a great delivery. Skipper Kane Williamson was also dismissed within the powerplay as SRH was reduced to 24/2 in the 5th over. The likes of Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran needed to steady the ship but had to ensure that the required rate didn’t go beyond manageable limits.
Rahul Tripathi looked in good touch and struck a couple of boundaries before perishing to Mitchell Marsh as he was holed out at the deep backward square leg region. With the score reading 37/3 in seven overs, SRH needed something magical from the likes of Pooran and Aiden Markram to get them back into the game. Shashank Singh joined Nicholas Pooran in the middle who was going great guns at the other end. Pooran kept SRH in the game with some lusty power-hittinh as none of the DC bowlers could contain him. His incredible knock ignited the hopes of a come from behind victory but that wasn't to be in the end.
Pooran kept plundering boundaries and sixes at will. He batted brilliantly and was eventually dismissed on 62 of 34 deliveries, an innings which included 2 fours and 6 sixes. He was dismissed in the penultimate over. Shashank Singh played some good shots but eventually, the target was way too much in the end. Kartik Tyagi also struck a boundary but the target, in the end, was way too much as DC prevailed by 21 runs.
