Match Details
Chasing this big total, Gujarat started on a flier note. Wriddhiman Saha took on the SRH bowlers as he slapped them all around the park. Shubman Gill at the other end supported his partner in crime. Saha struck boundaries at will and moved the scoreboard at a rapid rate. Saha's innings reminded everyone of his batting back in the 2014 season. Saha and Gill added 69 for the first wicket in just 7.4 overs. This is the highest first wicket partnership for Gujarat in the IPL. Kane Williamson introduced Umran Malik in the eighth over and it took just four deliveries for the pace man to get the wickets. Gill (22 off 24) made room and missed a quick ball. Hardik Pandya (10 off 6) came in next and top edged a quick bouncer down to the deep third man’s throat. Umran didn’t stop here as he picked up the wicket of dangerous Saha with a breathtaking yorker. Saha batted brilliantly until this delivery. He scored 68 off 38 to put his team in a stronger position. David Miller (17 off 19) and Abhinav Manohar (0 off 1) had no answers for the quick, straight and full deliveries from this pace ace from Kashmir. Umran cleaned both of them to celebrate his maiden Indian Premier League fifer. Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan in the end stole the game away from Sunrisers Hyderabad. Tewatia was unbeaten on 40 off 21 and Rashid was unbeaten on 31 off just I repeat just 11 deliveries. Marco Jansen couldn't keep his nerve and didn't bowl a yorker in the final over, costing his team the match. Umran Malik was the only bowler who took wickets and his figures read 4-0-25-5. Jansen didn't do justice for this hard work from his colleague!!! Really sad to see. But kudos to Saha, Tewatia and Rashid. With this win Gujarat Titans reach back to the top of the table with 14 points.
