NIKHIL: So, we are done here with the hosts winning the game with relative ease as they had posted a mammoth total of 252 on the board to chase for the visitors who perished without even fighting for this.
The Essex innings started with a furious pace as the hosts managed to score 65 runs in the powerplay which laid a perfect foundation for the star strikers to come and have a dash on. Rossington got a decent stat but Lawrence and Walter got going to an extent that they managed to post a total of 253 which is gigantic in T-20. Sisodiya once feared getting hit for 6 sixes in an over when Walter scored 4 back-to-back sixes to him but he escaped that. For the visitors, Mcllroy bowled well to pick up a couple of wickets at 8 runs per over apart from him all the bowlers were taken for plenty with an economy well above 10 while Sisodiya chipped in with 2 wickets too to show some support for his counterpart.
In reply to the target set by the hosts, the visitors started in an opposite manner scoring 39 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in the powerplay that got them behind in the run-chase as the game progressed for them. Northeast started with all guns blazing and scored a half-century at a blistering pace before falling short of his century by 3 runs. Sams took 3 wickets and gave just 20 in his 4 overs helped with Beard taking a couple of wickets in the powerplay itself which broke the backbone of this hypothetical run chase here.
Chasing down 254 would have been an uphill task for any team let alone Glamorgan who managed to score 185 and got hammered by the hosts Essex by 69 runs.
