Match Details
Akshay: That’s the end of the game. The Tigers beat the Sunrisers by 15
runs. It went down to the wire and the Sunrisers tried hard in the end but
fell short of the target. The Tigers will breathe a sigh of relief after
getting across the line.
It was always going to be a daunting task for
the Sunrisers to chase down this total. They got off to a steady start and
Simmons was dismissed on the last ball of the powerplay. Anamul Haque was going
strong from the other end but the Tigers’ bowlers bowled brilliantly as the
runs dried up. The Tigers kept picking wickets at regular intervals and
restricted the Sunrisers to 167 to win the game by 15 runs. Alauddin
Babu hit three consecutive sixes in the final over but failed to get his side
across the line.
After electing to bowl first, the Sunrisers got
off to a very good start as they picked up two wickets in the very first over.
Soumya Sarkar was joined by Yasir Ali but the latter departed on the last ball
of the powerplay with 46 on the board. What followed was a batting masterclass
from Sarkar and Mushfiqur Rahim as they put in a solid fourth-wicket stand for
the Tigers.
Both brought up their fifties and started
cutting loose in the slog overs as they powered their side to 182 at the end of
their 20 overs. Sarkar and Rahim remained unbeaten on 82 and 62 as they helped
them put up a total which they defended successfully.
