Match Details
Jaffna Kings beat Dambulla Giants by 8 wickets with 45 balls to spare. So the Jaffna has come back stronger from their loss in the first match against the Galle Gladiators. The only thing that didn’t go right today was the toss for the Kings, rest all belongs to them. The team that was too strong on the paper had no answer to the Jaffna’s questions.
Won the toss and
batted first, Giants were nowhere near to their last match performance. They
didn’t get the start they needed with Dickwella, Salt and rest of the batters
apart from Nuwanidu Fernando who scored 23 from25 balls didn't add much to the total. No.1 T20I bowler Hasaranga and Theekshana took 3 wickets each which dented the dreams of Giants. Seales and Lakmal got 2 wickets each. Took wickets at regular intervals and restricted Giants for a low total as they were bundled out for 110 in 19.3 overs.
Chasing was as easy as it gets for Jaffna, Avishka Fernando who was back to the top once again started the chase on a cracking manner scoring 33 off 27 balls who along with Kohler-Cadmore 45(30)* put on a 63 run stand for the third wicket. After Avishka's dismissal Malik came and finished the game in a hurry. He scored 26 off just 10 balls with 3 sixes. The Giants who opted for an extra bowler couldn't make enough inroads in the Kings batting lineup ended up losing this match by 8 wickets with 45 balls to spare.
