So, a comfortable 14-run win for Brisbane Heat in the end. With this victory, Heat will regain the top position once again. They dominated this game throughout except for a period of time when Mignon Du Preez and Nicola Carey looked dangerous!
For Heat, the batters did a fantastic job by posting 170/6. From there on, it was always going to be a difficult chase for the middling Hurricanes line-up even the pitch was fantastic to bat on. The start was the worst possible one as skipper Rachel Priest was sent back cheaply by her opposite number Jess Jonnassen. Ruth Johnston also didn't last for long as she was rapped in front by Courtney Sippel. The teenager Richa Ghosh started impressively but she could only last for nine balls as Jonassen came back to castle her.
At 50-3, Hurricanes looked down and out especially with Mignon Du Preez struggling to accelerate. However, after a period of rebuilding, Du Preez started to find the fence with Nicola Carey for company. Post the drinks break, Hurricanes managed to score 45 runs off four overs to get themselves back in the chase while Du Preez also got to her fifty off just 38 balls. Just when Hurricanes looked ominous, Anneke Bosch had Du Preez caught behind in the 17th over as Heat came storming back. From there on, Hurricanes collapsed badly as lost six wickets for 16 runs.
