NIKHIL: So, we are done here with England winning the game by 41 runs, as they restricted South Africa to a total of 193 while chasing down a total of 234 which proved to be a bit too much for the Proteas.
England started in a way they are habitual to right now which is the aggressive approach even if the wicket keeps tumbling on either end, as they ended up scoring 48 for a loss of 2 wickets. Jos Buttler got going well and scored 22 runs at a brisk pace before perishing to Ngidi. Malan then joined Roy and scored a few as Roy perished on a score of 8 runs to Ngidi. Malan and Jonny took charge of the host's inning from there on and build a partnership of 71 runs when Malan perished to Phehlukwayo, then came Ali and scored a half-century off just 16 deliveries. Jonny continued his onslaught and scored 90 runs off just 53 deliveries and that helped the hosts to post a total of 234.
For the hosts, Ngidi started in a sensational manner as he managed to pick up a Fifer, getting rid of both the openers with the wicket of Jos at 22 and Roy at 8 after a struggling inning, Phehlukwayo picked up a wicket too.
In reply to the target set by the hosts, the Proteas started in a cautious manner scoring 49 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in the powerplay as they lost Quinton and Rossouw in the powerplay.
Reeza started well and tried to anchor the run-chase before he perished on 57. He was helped by Klaasen who scored 20, also Stubbs who scored at a furious pace to keep the visitors in the run-chase scoring 72 runs before perishing to Gleeson.
For the Hosts, Topley took got some crucial wickets of Quinton and Rossouw in the powerplay to break the backbone of this run-chase that looked like an uphill task. He was well helped by Rashid and Ali who took a wicket each in the middle stages of the Proteas innings. Rashid ended up with a couple of wickets and Gleeson was the stand-out bowler for the hosts as he scalped 3 wickets
