Milestone
That's it for the coverage of this match. Do join us for more cricketing action as we bring you match number 11 of the Caribbean Premier League at 7:30 pm IST. Till the next time, it's a ta-ta and a goodbye from me, Anurag Dasgupta and my co-commentators, Arijit Kundu and Anurag Singh.
Mahmudullah | Bangladesh captain:

"
It's a good feeling having lost a few matches. The first game is always important, but we need to come back and do this again.

I think the key was that the bowlers have been hungry and disciplined, not trying too much, applying themselves in the conditions and bowling really well.

I would have batted first, we could've taken early wickets and put pressure on them, and that's not in our control, so whatever we do, we need to do it to the best of our abilities."

Shakib Al Hasan | Player of the Match:

"It's a good feeling to win the first match of a series, given that we have never won against NZ. It will boost our team and give us confidence for the rest of the series.

I think we have been bowling well throughout the Australia series and now against NZ. Our batting is not upto the mark but the conditions are not easy for batsmen so we have to play really good cricket to put up a decent total."

Tom Latham | New Zealand captain:

" It was disappointing, the start. We built a partnership in the middle, we knew it would be tough, but we kept losing wickets. We couldn't put it together today. Hope we take learnings from what happened today, we need to understand the conditions which are very diffierent from what we have back home.

If we put a competitive total and put some pressure then you never know what might happened."
Half of the job was done and dusted by the bowlers, who spun a web round the Kiwi batters and dismissed them for just 60. But New Zealand's never say die attitude came into play and the BlackCaps scalped 2 wickets inside the first 6 overs to jolt the home side.

However, this total was never going to trouble the Bangladeshi batters and they steered past the victory line with 30 balls to spare.

Earlier in the day, New Zealand decided to bat first after winning the toss. No one applied the basics of batting and the team started to crumble under pressure. Latham and Nicholls showed a bit of character, but even they perished after getting a decent start.

The spin trio of Nasum Ahmed, Shakib Al Hasan and Mahedi Hasan foxed the Kiwi batters with their spin as the visitors were dismissed for their joint-lowest score in T20I's. Hang round, we'll be back with the presentation ceremony.
And with that boundary, Bangladesh have won this match comfortably by 7 wickets in the end. It was a thorough professional performance from the Tigers who've outplayed the Kiwis in all three departments of the game and have managed to defeat New Zealand for the first time in T20I's.
