Match Details
Delhi’s openers stride out in some mood as both Dhawan and Shaw went after the new-ball bowlers. Both the willow-holders nailed some classy boundaries, on both sides of the wicket. In a small chase like this, Delhi were already on 24 inside the third over, but then Chahar drew the first blood by removing Shaw. After the youngster, it was Shreyas Iyer who played a pathetic across-the-line flick and sliced it to covers.
With Pant's dismissal, the game opened for CSK, opened for CSK to pull things back things. Chennai scalped Ripal Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin and Shikhar Dhawan in a space of six runs. And it was heading towards another MS Dhoni styled comeback.
With 38 runs still to get in the last five overs or so, Hetmyer became the hero for DC and K Gowtham turned out to be villain for CSK’s fans. The southpaw batter skied a sitter towards the sub-fielder at wide long-on in the 18th over.. but he was dropped before the ball rushed to the fence for a boundary.
Hetmyer and Axar Patel took the responsibility and took the game deep as they never let it run away from their hands. The latter holed one out at covers, but with Hetmyer remained not out on the other, when KG Rabada flicked a leg-stump yorker to fine leg to seal the game.
