Ben McDermott bags the Player of the Match award for his match-winning knock of 110(60).
WOWOW, that was something special from Ben McDermott!! A batting masterclass from the right-hander has helped Hurricanes to go past the winning line with 7 wickets in hand. There was no stopping McDermott as he toyed away with the Strikers and made a mockery of their bowling attack to notch up a sensational ton.
176 was always going to be a tricky total to chase for any team and Strikers had the game in the palm of their hands. The away team got the early inroad in the form of Mathew Wade who was dismisses for just 6 on the board. D'Arcy Short joined hands with McDermott and this is where the game changed completely. The duo resurrected the innings and kept the scoreboard ticking. McDermott was bating on a different track altogether the Strikers bowlers had a hard time containing him.
Once Short departed for 37, there was a small ray of hope for the visitors, but McDermott bludgeoned his way to an unbeaten 60-ball 110 to ensure that the Hurricanes cross the winning line with 9 balls to spare. With his unbeaten innings today, McDermott becomes the seventh player to have multiple centuries in BBL cricket.
