Match Details
After two Ashes Tests, the scoreline reads 2-nil but if the determination from Buttler and Woakes could join hands with the oozing class of Root and Malan, England's batting could stand shoulder to shoulder with their bowling department to challenge this Australian side. They will be looking to come stronger to make it 2-1 at the Boxing Day Test.
See you all on the other side. This is me, Arjun Bhalla signing off on the behalf of Anurag Dasgupta, Ninaad Dixit and Zeeshan Naiyer. Stay safe and get vaccinated. Buh-bye!After the first innings, the visitors were just playing the chasing game. Australia, after not pushing the follow-on, decided to take full toll on the guest bowlers. Despite losing three wickets early on Day 4, Labuchagne and Head went berserk to give England a target of 467 runs to chase.
The same problem repeated for England as they lost their top-four in twilight on the fourth day. The only ray of hope that looked for England was Stokes and Buttler. The Miracle Man couldn't repeat the heroics of Headingley at Adelaide, but the latter and Woakes showed the way how to bat against this strong Australia attack. Alas, as I earlier said, they could not avoid the inevitable.
His composed knock could only last sessions before he unfortunately got out hit wicket at the start of the third session. As he went back to the dressing room after that heart-breaking dismissal, Broad and Anderson were just walking wickets for the home team, as the latter nicked a bumper to gully.
The last enthralling day saw the English batters showing grit, determination and will - for the first time in this Ashes. It was a sensational effort from Buttler who almost saw his team to a draw. Alas for them, despite all of that, they were outclassed in all three departments by this Australian side.
