Chasing 170 for victory, Sydney Thunder need a good start but they lost Usman Khawaja in the third over due to a poor decision from the umpire. Thereafter, Alex Hales and Callum Ferguson built a nice partnership. However, the introduction of Adam Zampa built a lot of pressure as he got away two overs for just five runs. The likes of Clint Hinchliffe and Liam Hatcher also bowled well with Hales getting out in the 13th over after making 46 off 41 balls. Ferguson carried on in fine fashion and scored a half-century but he too fell in the 15th over. Thunder took the power surge in the 17th over but even that didn’t go well as Hatcher dismissed Ben Cutting and Daniel Sams off successive deliveries. Alex Ross gave some hope with a six and a boundary off Billy Stanlake’s over but Hilton Cartwright and Zampa bowled superbly to round off a 22-run win.
