Player Bio

A 23-year-old leg-spinner, Challaru Prathyusha is a professional cricketer of the Indian Women’s national team. Started playing cricket at just 10 years of age, she always dreamt of representing the country and her dream came true when she earned her maiden call-up to the Indian squad against South Africa for their limited over series.

In 2018, she led the India Blue side to a Challengers Trophy Title as they defeated India Green by 33 runs. Prathyusha picked up 4 for 23 in 6.2 overs. She dismissed the wicketkeeper-batter Nuzhat Parween for 15 and picked up the last three wickets for no run.

After some demolishing performances with the bowl in the domestic circuit for over two years, she grabbed the eyeballs of the national selectors in 2021. The '95 born made her debut against the Proteas on March 17th, 2021 in the 5th ODI of the series which Indians had already lost coming into the 5th match. On her debut, she was a bit wayward with her line, and failed to put up a match-winning performance. Although she picked up one crucial wicket, India lost the match by 5 wickets in a humiliating series loss.

The tweaker from Karnataka has a long way to go in her career, and with her mysterious spin bowling ability, she would be hoping to capitalize on any opportunity presented to her.
